Diagnostic program to download
IF you have (or can acquire a cheap) Android device then look into MotoScan. It has several levels of capability, the top level being MotoScan Ultimate for about $50USD. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.wgsoft.motoscan&hl=en_US&gl=US It also requires a Bluetooth OBD reader (I...

Re: Air vests video
We’ve used HitAir vests for many years and have been easy to get on and off, never triggered inadvertently and have been a great addition to our riding gear.

Re: Damn headlight bulb replacement!
I have 2 Hexheads...I use a short chunk of cut garden hose stuck onto the back of the lamp and sit in the front of the bike and reach around underneath while I’m looking through the headlight assembly. I replaced enough of these that I’ve gotten manageable at it without tearing up my hands LOL. Sent...

RT recall fuel pump problems
The way BMW explained this recall to me was this: IF you have a bike that’s affected by this recall it is inspected first. If there’s evidence of cracking at the flange, the fuel pump is replaced under warranty. In addition, if the bike went in for the previous recall to fit the metal reinforcing ri...

RT recall fuel pump problems
As far as I'm aware, a "recall" is usually a safety issue, e.g. the Wethead ESA piston rod, where you have to stop riding the bike immediately. The fuel pump problem was not a safety issue, therefore, I think it's covered by a "technical campaign", you could continue to ride the...

OK...your RT is a 2005; how old is the bike battery? Low battery voltage/capacity can cause a variety of gremlins...

Peter:
OK...the assumption here is you were working on the DWA because had a bad alarm unit battery, right?
If that’s the case, did the fuel/temp indicator problems start immediately after you changed the DWA battery?

PARTIAL display fault
Ok...some random thoughts... 1. If the LAST thing you did prior to this error was work on the DWA try disconnecting the alarm unit from Canbus... it might be loading the network and you’re not getting temperature and fuel information. And another thing came came to mind....look at the DWA connector ...

Re: Motoscan with amazon fire?
Excellent...hopefully you ordered one of the OBD readers that work well with our bikes and Motoscan; I use the OBDLink LX Bluetooth one and it works fine...I know there are others folks use successfully as well...

Swapping ZFE and other woes
Found this thread on BMWSportTouring, https://www.bmwsporttouring.com/topic/86021-interchangeability-of-used-zfe-units/ If it's correct, "Only a dealership can flash the ZFE. What's worse, a ZFE cannot be re-used on another bike because each one is set at the factory to work with only a single...

Re: Swapping ZFE and other woes
This may not be the ideal solution, but how about installing an inline manual on/off switch in the wire supplying the side/parking lights. Happy New Year, David... I thought about this solution as well...if the OP has onboard accessory sockets and they shut off after the bike is keyed off (+ X seco...

Re: Swapping ZFE and other woes
Just a thought, couldn't these options be activated by a mechanic at a dealer? They might be, if the dealer has the ISTA-P computer system for servicing, and if they’re willing to try and program a module that is a)not purchased from that dealer and b) a used part... Sounds like an uphill battle. S...
