Re: Vancouver Island and/or BC BMW Dealers
Yes, just the one on the Island. You might find a better deal over on the mainland, but there is also the dealer relationship that one typically has when you buy and service at the same dealer (just a thought). I still get 10 - 15% off parts and receive regular discount offers...just a few weeks ago...

Re: Intermittent Starting Issue
Thanks for the tip, which I'll try when I head out for an evening run tonight. Sorry to hear you are having rain, we have a heatwave right now ;-)

Re: Ride videos
Nice, very nice. I used to live in the west of Scotland and especially liked seeing the familiar scenery like the Rest and be Thankful and the remains of the old torpedo range piers as you left Arrochar.

Intermittent Starting Issue
Hi there, I have a 2014 R1200RT and recently I have noticed that from time to time it won't start on the first turn, but starts fine on the 2nd try? It does it whether its hot or cold? Any suggestions before I call the local shop? It turns over fine, but no firing, so I am wondering if its something...

Re: Bike Cleaning Tools and other Favourites
Here's my routine and tools, for what its worth (smile). I wash my bikes once a week during normal rides (I only use for pleasure, no work runs). On other days after a ride I do a cursory wash and wax by hand. Weekly Clean: Rinse off all loose debris, wash with MeGuiars Ultimate Wash, blow dry with ...

It always pays to check what you buy!
Hi All, Some time ago I posted a question re whether or not I should install shift assist on my R1200RT. Well, guess what I found out yesterday? While picking up my R1200RT from the dealer yesterday after its 1000km service I decided to ask the tech if it was a big and costly job to install gear shi...

Re: BMW Discount on Parts & Accessories
On this side of the pond all BMW dealers have a rule that if you buy the bike from them, then you automatically get 20% off. If you don't buy the bike from them, you need to ask and usually its between 10% and 20% off. This covers parts and accessories, which I think are well marked up before hand.

Welcome and enjoy your new ride. I have the same bike, which I just recently bought, and so far so good :-) I concur with the previous paint comments re the grey being a great base coat ;-)

Right, I forgot....the slower grey goes on first and then the faster blue, which also doubles as a mirror when ones on the road! This will soon sound like a Monty Python scene if we're not careful ;-)

Re: To buy or not to buy extended warranty, that is the question?
Once again thanks for all the good input and comments. Yes, we get the 3 year warranty including roadside assistance. The extended can take it up a few years more, something that can be done right up to a month prior to warranty expiry. They are pumping it here right now as there will be a price inc...

To buy or not to buy extended warranty, that is the question?
Hi all, interested in anyone's take re extended warranty on the R1200RT LC. My local dealer is really pumping it these days and appreciate your thoughts. It ain't cheap and ranges from 1500 bucks to 2500 depending on years of coverage. It is a full coverage warranty that covers he whole bike, bar we...
