Re: The Nod
I noticed fewer bikers nod at me when I use my GS than when I ride my RT. A friend of mine states he doesn’t nod at GS riders because the bikes are too common. Yet, when he borrowed the current 1250 Gs Demo bike from Coopers, he was blown away by how good it was?! All a bit juvenile for me

Re: Tour de Yorkshire
Saturday was definitely the best day as far as the weather is concerned. I cheated today and took the car, & just drove part of the route. Just didn't fancy riding in the rain again. I'll definitely ride the full route when the weather improves. When are you thinking of riding the Otley stage Da...

Re: Tour de Yorkshire
Hi Dave
I was thinking of riding part of the route, depending on the weather of course. It's running right though my village so I shall be giving a bit of local support & then possibly heading off towards Scarborough.

Re: Agricultural clunk
All my RT's have clunked when selecting first. I often wonder why they can't solve this- their cars don't clunk. Agree wit RTman though, the box is faultless after this when on the move- the quickshifter makes me smile everytime. It makes me look like a good rider when I'm downshifting with that lit...

Interesting, these charts do look very similar. Hilltop after Remap. http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb315/Yonkyo/doc010_zpsrhccp0ct.jpg Re: RTLC Remapped Cycle World. http://www.cycleworld.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/BMW-R1200RT-Dyno-Chart.jpg Re: RTLC Remapped personally, I would much prefe...

Re: Cruise Control SET light on, but doesnt maintain speed.
One time replacement ah. I had 3 left and 2 right on my K1600 in 2 years. ...And how much do we pay for these premium bikes??? I just wish motorrad would gets Honda or Yamaha to make these switches for them. (And maybe the final drive unit & engine casings so we don't have t...

Re: S1000XR
Why would you be concerned about the Ducati reliability compared to a brand new BMW bike? Hi Frank, to answer your question; I said I fancy something different- such as a GS, a Ducati MS, or an XR. I commented on the Ducati because my friends experience of owning one found it to very, very unreliab...

Re: RTLC Remapped
I was just reading about this earlier today- BMW advertise the bhp at the crankshaft. Interestingly the XR was mooted to have 165bhp at the crank & when independently tested on a roller, actually produced 151BHP. 10% loss (or near as damn it) seems excessive to me. Someone isn't tellin...

Re: S1000XR
I went up to Coopers this PM to have a closer look and arrange a test ride. Would you believe they were too busy to arrange it?! I wasn't expecting to take one out today, but later in the week. Couldn't believe it. Anyhow, the XR looks the business; nice upright riding position but the seat height s...

S1000XR
As much as I like my RT's I'm seriously thinking of trying something a bit diferrent for a year or two. The question is- what do I get? Still fancy a GS but it's basically an RT in a pair of hiking boots. Fancy a Ducatli multistrada but reliability is a big concern- in that I would like to...

Re: Final drive service: some rust should I be worried?
I wouldn't be overly worried about that Wayne. It's surface rust on a very substantial & strengthened component- if it was in the actual joint it could cause problems but that will shift easily. Try coating it with a decent white Lithium grease instead of oil. This sticks better & will remai...

Re: Biker Watchdog
Took the RT to Cooper BMW Sunderland this morning to have the Timing Cover replaced under Warranty, (slightly corroded). The work requires the oil to be drained out & replaced, therefore waited until the bike was due an Oil & Filter change. Was told "that might be a problem, we don't h...

Re: Cruise Control SET light on, but doesnt maintain speed.
Would agree- almost certainly the switch assembly. Had exactly the same problem on a Germany trip on my old 2010. Switch gear replaced free of charge but only after shopping around the main dealers. End of problem.

Re: MICHELIN Pilot Road 4 GT
2014 RT two up will do 140mph no problems at all. I don't think the colour matters lol, but mines a Callisto grey. Agreed- Since the 2 up, fully loaded trip I've since unleashed my LC solo without luggage (empty panniers on only)- and have found that these LC's will catapult you to 140 without any ...
