I have had a similar issue with my '05 RT and it is the switch which has given up the ghost. I have managed to get a new switch for a lot less than the dealer charges. I'm taking mine off the bike over winter and getting them powder coated along with a couple of other pieces. Possibly going to get the wheels done at the same time.

Yes it is definitely to check your oil level. Had this on my '05 RT last month topped the oil up and warning symbol gone.
