Re: Left hand switchgear - replacement cost?
Left hand switch assembly is £326:00 plus VAT & fitting which if I remember correctly takes about 2hour. That was on a K1600, however it's the same part.
And RTman10 is correct, switchgear is not covered by extended warranty.

Re: Arm rests for pillion
Have a K1600 exclusive, one of the many reasons I purchased was pillion comfort and that included arm rests. My wife loves them, although imo they don't look that cleaver when riding solo.

Held 2-1 gloves, very similar to the BMW ones, £175:00 if I remember right, same price as BMWs 2-1s

Re: Front Suspension Ball Joint
K1600 changed out at 9000 miles. Have now heard of a good few which have not lasted very long.
Dealer said it's quite common, it's also just over £600 for parts and labour

Re: Pannier won't attach - HELP!
Have a K1600 but same panniers. Also had the same problem, but was under main warranty at the time, so went over to report the problem to the dealer and to my surprise i was asked to leave it with them and they would have a look at it. Just got back to my home when I got a call saying that a new loc...

Re: FJR1300 I take it all back
I have a FJR had it from new and will not part with it. Traveled all over Europe on it with my wife on the back, hell even got to the south of turkey.
They are very good, fast sport tourers.

Re: Keyless ride
Can confirm that with the alarm set to auto when you kill the engine the alarm sets and when you push the ignition button to start up the alarm switches it's self off. The central locking will work with the handlebar button ignition on or off, as long as the fob is within range.

Re: Keyless ride
So you locked and unlocked the panniers and set the alarm fumbling with the fog in your pocket. My keyed and keyless 1600s both had two fods and the keyed one two of those and the plastic one. Things have changed. On the 1600 keyless looks like it's made for the bike with nothing in view ...

Re: Keyless ride
Got keyless K1600 and it came with two fobs, in fact the K1600 before that was not keyless and came with two keys and two remotes. Yes I know it's not a RT but it is the same system .
Would recommend going keyless as I love it, fob never leaves my pocket. :D

Re: What does the collective think?
I have my K1600 for touring (and for longer days out), I have also kept my FJR1300 as I couldn't bear to part with it, but for some lightweight fun I got myself a SV650S Sport. It is great fun. The bike performs really great and is plenty fast for fun, would not like to go touring on it mind you, bu...

Re: Optimal 4
Never found the need to charge the battery on the two 1600's I have had, and the one I have at the moment hasn't moved since September. My FJR and little SV gets a full day's charge every three to four weeks when not being used. A couple of years ago I left the FJR hooked up over the winter and when...
