When changing FOB battery don’t go cheap, I got some no-name batteries on Amazon and they only lasted 3 months stick with Panasonic or Duracell
As for Utube I can’t believe I survived 72 years without it, lots better than reading the manual

Re: Pannier protection from BMW
I’ve used the BMW skid protection on both my 1600gt and 1200rt, I can honestly say they work, I’ve had in my weaker moments a couple zero speed tipovers with only a little scratching on the protectors and obviously protected the paint Takes a little planning on their install before you pull the tape...

Re: 2011 R1200RT rough or normal idle?
Hey Jim, thanks for the reply! The bike had a pre-sale inspection about 2k miles ago by bmw that said the bike looked clean. I’m guessing they checked this? Knowing most dealers, they do a safety inspection only Do you have any service records @48,000 miles it’s due for a valve ...

Do you have access to a GS911 tool? That will take a lot of the guess work out
That said, a good dose a Techron injection cleaner then I would consider new plugs, valve check and a throttle body balance.

Alarm system has a C123 battery, located aft of rear seat, not exactly sure what it does, (backup or primary) if it’s never been changed it may be time
I have a 15Rt and will be changing mine tomorrow if I can find it

Re: Fourth battery in FOB 2016 RT LC since May
I had the same or similar issue with my 15 keyless, new battery every month. I had bought some cheap batteries on amazon, weren’t worth a darn. Switched to Panasonic and problem went away

Re: New Bike Shopping
I’ve had a GS, 1600Gt and now a 15RT, by far the RT is the best for touring. My recommendation!

Casbar you are correct, my Werks standard height screen was the best investment I made for my bike, not sure what the difference is between the two

Because it’s so darn easy, I change mine at each oil change
Do your bike a favor, check out DIMPLE MAGNETIC drain plugs
I run both the engine and final drive plugs

Re: Keyless key battery
Ive just changed the key in my keyless key. Fortunately it gave me a little warning as it was getting a little sluggish operating the ignition and steering lock. I did not notice the warning icon on the dashboard. I checked what to do in the riders manual and it seems a complicated procedure. I now...
