Good padded motorcycle riding shorts are Motoskivies. I bought one and it's an improvement. A gel seat or Airhawk will extend your riding to a whole day without suffering.

Re: Deciding to go from Harley to R1200RT---What would you do?
I have been riding Harley Davidson motorcycles for the last 20 years. I current own a 2014 Street Glide Special and have very much enjoyed it. I have always been intrigued with BMW motorcycles and have wanted to own one but until recently, I have avoided the issue. The...

Re: R1200RT LE Newbie
I rode the K 1600 back to back with the RT ,both models were the 2015 models. I liked the RT better for a few reasons. I think when you look at power to weight ratio they're pretty close to each other, but the RT is lighter, has better wind protection, and doesn't pump the heat from the cylinders in...

Re: Pre or Post '14 RT?
I'm absolutely astounded by your remarks. I owned a 2006 RT ,got on the 2015 RT and was totally blown away by its performance. There is no comparison between the 2015 RT and 2006. They are completely different motorcycles from the frame up. I think you really need to reevaluate the ride you took. Te...

Re: New to forum, about to purchase R1200RT
I live near the Four Corners area in New Mexico. Have you done the Devil's Highway which borders New Mexico and Arizona yet? if you haven't done it you should, if you've heard of the dragon's tail the Devil's Highway is the dragon's tail squared. 100 miles of pristine twisty roads surrounded by tota...

Re: New to forum, about to purchase R1200RT
I don't think having a backrest on the motorcycle detracts from the appearance of the motorcycle. The backrest folds down so that the pillion can get over the backrest onto the back seat without any issues.

Re: 2007 vs 2015 RT
Here in the United States BMW has a plan that is very similar to lease plan. The payments are based over 4 years and you are essentially paying for half the value of the motorcycle. So the payments are very low. At the end of the four years or 3 years after the warranty has expired you trade the mot...

Re: 2007 vs 2015 RT
I had a 2006 BMW RT which I just traded in for a 2015. All I can say is technology has really moved on in 9 years and a 2015 is probably one of the finest motorcycles in the world today. The bumper to bumper warranty is good for 3 years and so my plan is at the end of the three years to trade it in ...

Re: R1200 Accessories
My 2015 was loaded so the only items have been a gel pad on the seat ,a Utopia drivers backrest, soft luggage for all three cases from Cee Bailey ,blind spot mirrors from White Horse, and Moto Skivvies for my back side.

Re: New to forum, about to purchase R1200RT
I just purchased a 2015 RT and find the bike fairly comfortable for 300 miles plus and then I'm pretty sore. I'm 6 foot 2 inches tall and I've got a gel seat on top of the stock seat which is set at its highest position. I also bought a pair of moto skivvies with padding to help extend the hours of ...

Re: MICHELIN Pilot Road 4 GT
I have Metzlers on my new 2015 RT and I hate them. The bike feel squirrely on the road. I've always run Michelin tires on my bikes. My last bike was a 2006 R 1200 RT and it handled beautifully. These Metzler's just don't cut the grade for me.
