Re: Ignition switched 12v access point for bullet safety camera
I didn't know that..I presume you mean they think his injuries are worse because he had a gopro attached to this helmet? Makes sense if it snagged and caused the head to be pulled. Must admit I didnt consider that. I was originally going to attach it to the bike, but couldnt find a place to mount it...

Re: Cruise Control SET light on, but doesnt maintain speed.
Hi all, my bike was finally in for its service and replacement switch gear last weekend and guess what.....the cruise control now works! :enjoying: I am absolutely delighted. They told me they changed both left and right side switches for some reason, but I don't care. ...

Re: Ignition switched 12v access point for bullet safety camera
Thought I'd post an update here now that I've done the job. Took off the side panel last night to get access to the accesory socket and spliced into the power there. Easy peasey, though the colour coding is bizarre - I hadnt seen the post above at the time, but a quick test with the meter ...

Re: Right stowage compartment - 2014RT
My 2012 RT compartment DOES definitely have a pre-drilled rain hole. I think it would be crackers to design them without as there is always the risk some clutz doesnt close the lid properly and rain gets in, so be surprised if the 2014 didnt have it.

Re: An ode to the RT, I didnt know I would miss you as much as I have!
Cheers - I'm off to pick it up on my way home tonight. Absolutely, re the RNineT. I know its not designed to be in any way practical, its a pure 'fun' or 'lifestyle' bike designed for cruising round on a sunny weekend ride. Actually, its REALLY at its best when its just parked up in the sunshine, an...

An ode to the RT, I didnt know I would miss you as much as I have!
I miss my RT! Its Friday, I've not much to do at work, so thought I would share my tale... My 2012 RT went in for its 24k service & a fix for the cruise control last Saturday, and later that day I got a call from the dealer saying it had some extra ‘issues’ – the front pads had totall...

Re: Ignition switched 12v access point for bullet safety camera
Thanks all, I'll have a look at joining into the back of the accessory socket in the first instance I think. I'm reasonably handy with electrical connectors, so will do a kind of two into one arrangement that should then be splashproof if its exposed to road spray under there. If in any do...

Re: What do I need to look out for when buying a used R1200RT
Many other metals oxidise but the resultant oxidisation isn't referred to as rust which applies to iron or something containing iron, interestingly magnesium is actually derived from magnesium oxide as it doesn't exist naturally on it's own (like me that's why I got married a couple of months ago l...

Re: Ignition switched 12v access point for bullet safety camera
Thanks, I dont know why I didn't think of the accesory socket actually. I presume I can just take off the upper left fairing to get to the back of it. True it does stay on for 60 seconds after the ignition goes off, but thats just 60 seconds of extra video of the inside of my garage. No ha...

Ignition switched 12v access point for bullet safety camera
Hi all, I have just bought a Roadhawk Ride camera and am going to mount it on the bike permanently so its always recording as I commute a long way to work and back every day. Sooner or later it feels like someone is going to pull a crazy move on me, and I want it on camera when they do! I ...

Re: What do I need to look out for when buying a used R1200RT
Quick point about rust. Cylinder head covers are magnesium so Don't rust and I have never seen any corrosion on undamaged wheels and Ive seen thousands. Rusty fasteners I put down to lack of care. And the cleaner never to use on any BMW is MuckOff. I might no...

Re: Look whats outside my office window
This morning I was a little late for work as I collected my new bike, what a shame it was foggy and damp :( That looks absolutely magnificent, congratulations. Top colour choice too I also agree. (mine is midnight blue, :-(, but it was the right bike at the right time at the right price, ...

Re: What do I need to look out for when buying a used R1200RT
Good luck finding one with no rust.... if my example is anything to go by, and from what I have read elsewhere, the paint on the wheels and cylinder heads is very prone to flaking and ensuing rust, and many of the bolt heads corrode easily too. It's all cosmetic though and low down, so you don't rea...
