Not unheard of to get leaves to collect against the exhaust tubing. Prime area is around the crossover tube.

Not all RT's transition to a high beam lamp when the (single) low beam lamp fails. Mine does not. 2014.

Re: a bit noisy
While I cannot "hear" the bike from here.....
I would say the Wethead is far from a quiet engine. Certainly not the sewing machine smooth sound the Oilhead had when tuned right. That is ok, it just runs and runs and runs...without needing any work like my previous BMW!

Re: R+G HEADLIGHT PROTECTOR
If you can find the black color 3M duo locks......
They look better installed on the bike than the "clear" ( actually more white ) versions normally shipped with headlight protectors. The black sort of blends in with the headlight background.

Re: RT LC rear brake pedal lowering
Or....you can simply unhook the brake lever from the pushrod bracket. Unscrew the bracket from the pushrod ( that goes into the rear master cylinder ). Remove the lock nut that normally locks against the bracket ( not enough room to leave it installed ). Cut off the pushrod a bit, put some loctite o...

Re: Topbox
If I were to go with something other than the OEM topcase, I think it would be the variable capacity SHAD top case. I really like the looks and how it functions. That said, I did buy the expensive OEM top case for my 2014 RT when new. They gave me more than I expected for my RT trade-in, figured it ...

What brand were they.
What & where.
I have not replaced the rotors on my Wethead RT. But I have replaced them on a V Strom with Chinese replacement parts. Worked ok...but rusted up right away.

Re: Need recommendation on new front rotors 2014 R1200RT LC
I tried aftermarket rotors and found them to be lacking in quality. I am sure there are exceptions. I also found the stock OEM replacements to be so high priced that I won't buy them.
Consider salvage rotors. OEM quality, and in many cases very low mileage.

Re: High seat
Might be cheaper to go with a different peg lowering kit. I would bet you were running the Suburban Machinery kit? Take a look at the lowering pegs from Knight Design. You give up very little clearance over stock pegs with their pegs.

Re: Another broken windshield swing arm - wide aftermarket shields too much?
Were the arms upgraded in later model years? If not what is the upgrade? JJ Starting with the Wethead RT in 2014, the windscreen linkage is much stronger. I cannot remember hearing of one breaking, and I have tested large screens on them at up to 130 mph. I have raised them at 100+ mph. The Hexhead...

Re: Russell vs Sargent - overall comfort, shoulder pain & distance to bars?
I know and understand that a large number of people swear by Russell seats but there's also quite a contingent out there with Sargent seats. Currently, I have a Russell on my 2018RT, along with Wunderlich risers. The made-to-order seat is comfortable (although not nearly so much as an old...

Re: Werks quite ride screen
I've found that it's worthwhile to get the tallest screen in that, when you lower the screen to below your eye-level, the taller screen is at a lower angle to the oncoming air stream. I feel that the lower the angle, the less buffeting and the less stress on the swing arms of the screen (...

Re: RT1250 LE – Rear Brake Pedal Height Adjustment
'Most people' may not but adjustments are not usually about most people. They are about those who may have fitted a foot peg lowering kit and found the controls not quite in the optimum position, or even guys like me with arthritis and slightly limited movement that need a bit of adjustme...

Re: Werks quite ride screen
We have had several conversations! Which I am glad to have. He really could go with either size. He has a tall torso for the height, and runs the seat in the low position. Much of what I have learned points to 22" tall......but where he runs the stock screen leads and the taller torso leads to ...
