Re: Seems to be getting harder to get from 1st to 2nd gear
Hang in there I guarantee you it get much much better. Shifting is 100% a non issue for me now and has been quite awhile. Hi. When you say hang in there it will get much better... What are we hanging in there for? A period of time or number of miles? Not sure I understand what y...

Thanks. I will see how it goes at 20mph tomorrow.RTman10 wrote: I looked at the dash this morning as I changed from 1st to 2nd. Still no idea what the revs were but the speed for near silent changes was 20mph.

Re: Seems to be getting harder to get from 1st to 2nd gear
Well, I have tried the technique of short shifting today and that certainly goes in easily but you really have to do it as soon as the wheels have started turning a few times to make it work. It will take me some time to get used to doing that. I have no view on the oil level poi...

Thanks. I will try that and report back.RTman10 wrote: Yes as soon as your moving in first with the gear lever pre loaded just click up. No idea what the revs are, never look. Obviously not using Pro shift.

Re: Seems to be getting harder to get from 1st to 2nd gear
Try short shifting, works for me, changes are normally silent. Thanks for responding. When you say short shifting, do you mean changing up at lower than typical revs for the next gear? I have tried that and sometimes it goes in successfully but mainly there is a worse clatter as something...

Re: Seems to be getting harder to get from 1st to 2nd gear
This question has been brought up on the GS site, it appears overfilling the crankcase can cause difficult shifting You might check the sight glass just to ensure its not overfilled Thanks for responding. In my case, it's not oil level as the oil level is under the top of the circle. It w...

Seems to be getting harder to get from 1st to 2nd gear
I've now done 13000 miles on the RT LC I bought new last November. One thing that is griping me a little bit is that it seems to be getting more difficult to get from 1st to 2nd gear without hearing the gear clatter into place. Not the clunk I've always heard but like it isn't qu...

Re: Brakes not right... Front makes a strange almost rubber on steel sound
I had new pads fitted today. Cost me best part of £250. Problem completely gone away. Whether something else was done at the same time or not I don't know. The pads didn't appear contaminated to look at them and they still had plenty of braking surface depth. They did have a shiny steel like surfac...

Re: Brakes not right... Front makes a strange almost rubber on steel sound
Who's the dealer who is telling you they are all like that. As you are not new to Rs you know that's wrong. I won't mention the dealer specifically but I do get a bit peed off with dealers given bulls__t answers. The noise has got worse over the last few days on stopping and it ...

Re: Brakes not right... Front makes a strange almost rubber on steel sound
Agree I would keep away from washing up liquid. Sounds to me you have contaminated pads. If you have cleaned your discs/rotors with brake cleaner and the brakes are good for a short time and then go off again, this would indicate the pads are the problem. I am presuming the brakes do not feel spong...

Re: Brakes not right... Front makes a strange almost rubber on steel sound
I was once told that washing up liquid contains salt as well as a powerful de greaser so should never be used on vehicles. Could have been told wrong of course. Not sure about sanding discs though. Re: Brakes not right... Front makes a strange almost rubber on steel sound
Totally new issue for me. if you are using your back brake regularly using the foot lever after 6000 miles its going to be well past its best. What do you use to clean the bike with, ie stuff added to water. I just use a little bit of fairy liquid. Always done it that way. The only other thing I ca...
