Re: Lowering suspension question
Hi, I used the hyperpro springs, although my bike didn't have ESA. I then replaced units with Wilbers units, which were a higher quality shock than standard.

Re: Swingarm socket
If you live in a wet, cold country where the authorities throw copious amounts of salt on the road, rust isn't far away :'(

Swingarm socket
Needed to change my swingarm bearings and suddenly realised that I didn't have a 12mm hex key or a 30mm deep socket. So I purchased one of each and locked myself in the garage for an hour with my angle grinder. The result? A socket from Frankenstein's laboratory! But it does the job! I can torque t...

Re: Rear shock lower bolt hole dimensions
I have a replacement bolt for the shock. I would like to know the shock hole diameter to give me an idea of how much material, if any, I need to remove before removing the shock.

Rear shock lower bolt hole dimensions
I've just had to drill out the bolt that secures the lower fitting of the rear sock absorber to the swinging arm. The shock refuses to move. It would appear that there may be some of the bolt material left inside the assembly which is fowling the removal of the shock. If anyone has access to a 2009 ...

Yoke badge
Does anyone know where I can buy a BMW badge for the top yoke on my 2009 RT? At present there is a plastic disc there. I notice that on later models the disc has been replaced by a badge. After-market is more than acceptable if the genuine part costs an arm and a leg lol

Re: Rear suspension bolt stuck.
Cheers bud, I've tried acetone also. Going to heat the magnesium unit with halogen lamps tomorrow to help the alloy expand and then use a impact wrench to help to ease the bolt out. The air temp is very cold at present causing the alloy housing to grip the steel bolt tight. I'm hoping heat will help...

Rear suspension bolt stuck.
Changing the springs on my 2009 bike. Front one, which I thought would be a pain went like a dream. Got the rear top bolt loose, but the bottom one doesn't want to play ball. Initially I tried using a breaker bar and a T50 size torx bit. I've tried soaking with penetrating oil, in the gaps between t...

Ex-police bike
Hi, I've just received my 59 plate ex-police bike and it still has a couple of things on it that I'd like to remove. There are brackets for lights on the nose of the bike behind the indicator lenses and switch gear on the left hand grip. Would someone please be kind enough to let me know how to remo...

Re: Lowering suspension question
I've ordered the low seat. I've also purchased some 8mm think steel plate to make an enlarged foot for the sidestand, and going to weld some steel rod to form a loop to push down with my boot.

Re: Lowering suspension question
Thanks for the input guys. I will have a chat with the suppliers tomorrow if they know of any issues. I believe they also manufacture a 25mm reduction spring.

Re: Lowering suspension question
Hi, I've now purchased my 2009 R1200 Rt. I need to lower it. I can purchase a kit by Hyperpro that lowers by 30mm front and rear from Motorworks along with a fitting tool. Will I still be able to use the centre stand, or will it require modifying? The sidestand needs a bolt welding near the foot , s...
