Re: Just joined and a question already!
The tricky part is getting good sound quality from speakers at 70mph with the wind rushing past your helmet. Motorcycling has now adopted the modern fashion in automobiles, namely using Apple Carplay or Andriod Auto to mirror the screen on the smartphone. The latest way is to use a helmet communicat...

Re: adding alarm and central locking to 2016 R1200RT
If you have to wait for a reply, it means that most of the models sold had Central Locking as standard. So yours is quite a rare machine.
In the UK your machine would have an "SE" designation, whereas the "LE" (Luxury Edition) was more popular.
Good luck.

Re: Painting costs
My 49 litre top-box will be 20 years old next year.
It has has been repainted into metallic dark red and now Alpine White.
I take it to a cheap back street repair shop in North London and try to avoid paying VAT

I have the low tone horn from a BMW 5-series car. Naturally it is compatible with the existing bike plug.

Re: Why the BMW RT
WHY The R100RS Monolever that I had inherited made my hands numb. So, either give up biking or buy something that I liked. We were a BMW family since before the war so I purchased a R1100RT. Since then, I have had a 2005 1200RT, a 2014 1200RT and now a 2019 1250RT. I have had a K1300GT as a service ...

Re: Zumo XT
Thank you for the Stu :thumb: Also will the XT fit using its own mounting in the same place as the bmw unit, if the bmw navigator mount is removed. I would NOT remove the BMW mount. I have fitted the Wunderlich/Oldtimers Satnav electric locking device to my non-TFT bike. This locks the BMW release ...

Re: Alternative to leather trousers ?
Buy something that fits the waist and have them taken in. I've just paid £60 to have my Resurgence jeans taken in by Hideout Leathers (nr. Cambridge). Probably 3x as expensive as the local tailor but I wanted them to use best quality thread. After all, AAA abrasion resistance is no use if the clothe...

Re: Indicators always on
Once upon a time (we're talking R1100RT) I paid for a gadget to allow me to use the yellow indicators as DRLs. Then a white van pulled out in front of me thinking that I was about to turn left into a side road. This left me thinking that yellow DRLs are not necessarily a safety aid. White DRLs or dr...

Re: R1300RT Prototype
Don't forget its a prototype the bodywork won't be finished and they will be testing first It will probably look worse if the new GS adventure is anything to go by  That is exactly what everyone said about the 2005 1200RT when it replaced the curvaceous 1150RT. I lost count of the number of ti...

You should be fine with that - a good automotive key cutter should be able to oblige with cutting the duplicate.
I've done the same thing.

Re: BMW F800-GT
I did not particularly care for the F800R/GT motor. The motor in the F750GS/latest F800GS is far nicer and the underlying technology is much newer. If needed, there are low-frame models of both the above. I would look in that direction. Don't worry about the chain - just fit an automatic chain oiler.

Re: Summer mesh jacket that’s waterproof ?
My go-to Summer jacket is a red/grey BMW Airflow jacket which has a red waterproof over-jacket stashed in a pouch on the back. The red colourway means that I do not feel the need to wear a flouresent overjacket to be seen easily. The jacket is made of sturdy Dynatec high-melting point Cordura. The A...
