Re: oily residue on lower pant leg
This does remind me of very similar occasion when I returned home after a Dealer service. My right boot had a thin film of oil on it. Investigation by me showed that the rubber seal which fits around the spark plug access hole had not been installed correctly. Don’t you just love those skilled BMW ...

Re: GS-911
As of now, the GS911 will not reset the service reminder on my 2017 R1200RT. They are working on updating the software to include the new controllers used on the EU4 bikes. You get a fault box stating that the controller is wrong for this motorcycle when attempting a reset. You also need the adapter...

Re: Heed Engine Crash Bars
I feel they might keep the side panels off the ground in a stand still drop. They also will keep the bike from going so far over.

Re: 2016 RT, No Throttle Response
2017 R1200RT was rear ended at a stop sign and fell over on the right side. No evidence of the throttle hitting the ground. The engine fault light along with the solid yellow warning triangle were on and the bike ran in the "get home mode". It was limited to 2000 RPM and didn't have enough...

Re: How many RT LC owners actually have problems / issues?
I had an issue that I find disturbing. 2017 R1200RT 3 days old with 582 miles on it. I was stopped at a stop sign and rear ended just enough to drop the bike on it's right side at a stand still. The damage was to the right valve cover, right pannier, rear license plate(broken off), and just a small ...

Re: New ride
Wow, that is a crazy number of miles, you have earned a new bike! Any words of wisdom for the rest of us RT owners after that many miles? I have had 3 BMW's with a total of 408,000 miles between them. If I have learned anything it would be to maintain them but don't over maintain. This bi...

I bought the Rt used in June 2012 with 16478 miles on her. I do ride a lot. Last year I put 47388 miles on her....129 miles per day.
I have a new 2017 RT on order now.

Re: Alternator belt squeel
I have been through 4 belts on my 2008 RT with 167,000 miles on it. Only one of them did exactly as your did. It only squealed for a couple seconds after washing the bike. It never caused any other problems.......nothing to worry about.
