Re: Forum etiquette

I complained to the forum owners about the standards here, after a particularly 'bitchy' savage reply to a new post from someone with a few posts by someone with high volumes of posts. Due to the type of responses and 'if you don't like it why did you buy it' style of replies, I now visit less regu...

Re: Forum etiquette

Here we go.  I think a couple of responses to the original post highlight the very problem with this forum.  There are a few people, and I suspect you know who you are,  who a) feel the need to respond to every post and who b) exhibit quite "Trollish" behaviour a...

Re: Wunderlich elephant tank bag

Bought mine from someone on this forum.  Works just fine - easy to get on and off.  It does however sound the horn when on full left lock.  Other than that it's great.

Re: Main display change to speedo?

You can't  :( I wonder how difficult it would be for BMW to add this as a firmware update?  My Picasso, has a digital speedo that can easily be changed from MPH to KPH, which is great when driving abroad.  I've never looked at the analogue speedo on the bike so, like othe...

Re: iPhone mount for 2016 R1200RT

Am i the only one who's assuming that the only reason anyone would want to mount their phone to their bike is in order to use a SATNav Application?  In which case any arguments as to whether it's allowed or not are exactly the same as using something like the Nav 5 which, like any satnav, c...

This one looks the most sensible to me . . . unless you're using a tank bag.

Re: Falling into slow corners

Before ordering my RT, exactly 1 year ago now, I tried a few different bikes - (although I never did get a chance to try an FJR  :( ). One of the bikes I tried was a 2nd hand Trophy - unfortunately this bike wasn't new and needed new tyres, but it also had the exact same problem described.&...

Re: Fitting my 'cheap' TOMTOM Sat Nav

I did the same with my old car Tom Tom on my V-Strom - used it to travel to Mons a couple of times and carried a couple of food bags and elastic bands "just in case" !!.  Then I upgraded to having Tom Tom on my iPhone - RAM sell a waterproof case for the phone that still lets you ...

Re: Keyless ride

Yes it does.  No need to ever touch my FOB. Also, as long as you're next to the bike with the fob on you, the alarm auto switches off.  No need to press the starter to turn the alarm off to move the bike around.  Although having said that, I vaguely remember the bike gett...

Not sure about you, but I tend to take the keys out when I park my bike . . .

Re: Topcase lock jammed

I think there might be two problems here.  One being the lock and the other being the reluctance for top boxes to open if you shut something between the two halves when you close it.  I've had a couple of panics when I couldn't get the release to pop out - both times because I've c...

Re: Keyless ride

I really like my keyless.  I keep the plastic emergency key in my wallet just in case but, like my keyless car (which is why I went for it on the bike), it just saves the hassle of fishing keys out of pockets & bags.  My only regret is that I didn't pay the extra fro central lo...

Re: Garmin Basecamp Very Difficult to Use

So, good to know it's not just me !!  A couple of weeks ago I used Google Maps and transferred the maps in KML to Basecamp then created a "trip" around Wales and uploaded it to the Nav 5.  Everything was set up, the trip was (finally) uploaded to the Nav.  Howeve...

Re: RT v GS

Let's face it, if we had enough money and garage space, we'd all have half a dozen bikes.  A good solid tourer (RT of course), a sports bike (Hayabusa), cruiser (mine would be a Rocket), nippy city bike (any naked muscle bike) . . . and the list goes on.  If I lived in the city and...

Re: Another newb question - boxer engine preferred revs?

I have to say that the quick shifter does sound impressive when you're going for that quick overtake - makes you look quite professional to the white van driver leaning out of the window. Unlike many a time when I first started riding (30 years ago) trying to impress the girls at the bus stop on my ...
