Re: Windshield riding speed

In the winter I use a Quiet Ride and in the summer the stock windshield. I try to ride with the windshield as flat as possible. About the only time that I raise it more the a few inches is in the rain or hail.

Re: Aux Lights

Add a relay and you won't have to remember to turn off the lights. The wiring is easy run one wire from the license plate lamp wire to the switch. The other wire from the switch goes to the control side of the relay. The other side of the control goes to ground. That completes the first circuit. Run...

Re: OEM Dealer Install Fog Lights on 2014 R1200RT

There should be an indicator in the same place as the K1600.

Re: Retro fit LED Sidelights

Most items that you install and are not BMW branded need to get their power through a relay controlled fuse box or a PDM60. Your problem is common when you pull too much power through a circuit on a BMW. On a BMW and newer Harleys the current wiring harness can only be taped as a trigger, not to pow...

Re: heated gear to powerlet

I use a battery tender cord and a adapter. This way it does not fail on a cold day. I have had heated clothing fail at 18f. Burr!!!

Re: Dead driving lights...

Having had that switch apart I would think that it would be susceptible to water getting on the circuits. I would think that a waterproofing agent would help. I have a spray but can't find it.

Re: high beams

On this side of the pond LEO's don't care as long as you are not blinding them. The key is to be seen. How you present yourself on the bike is as important as anything else. If you ride like many of the cruiser riders drivers will dismiss you. I have to be very careful on my civilian K1600 as I do n...

Re: high beams

I ride with the low beams and the LED fog lamps on at all times. This gives a good triangle. The K1600 has Clearwaters set at 50% as not to blind someone the RTP has BMW LEDs.

Re: 2016 RT - Optional Settings

I highly recommend that you do not play with the wonder wheel until after you get home. We have had a few riders at the K1600 forum get into trouble trying to figure it out on the way home. The controls are very easy to understand once you get used to them. Try to adjust what you think you want to a...

Re: Need LED Fog Light Suggestions

I will be using the BMW LEDs on my RTP do to the integration with the rest of the lights. On my K1600 I have Clearwater Darlas and Ericas with a Canopener. The Clearwater package is far better then the BMW LEDs or the Denalis that were on my KLR.
