Re: Weaving/white lining
Pete1200. Yes, thanks point taken. Re tyre pressures, I have always stuck faithfully to 36 F & 42 psi R on the PR4s, and not reduced/increased the pressures. My riding is solo, and I'm not one to hang about![emoji6] I've also made a point of buying my tyres direct from and fitted by my local de...

Haynes e-manual
[size=12px] Just had an e-chat with Messrs Haynes re the costs involved with their e-manual for the water boxers. THe e-manual comes in at £16.99 (UK only for the moment), the idea appeals for things like being able to print out only the necessary sheets for any given job. However, it transpires tha...

Re: Gear shift assist operation
It seems to me that the original poster has been mixing up Gearrshift pro and Honda's DCT gearboxes, hence the question about using the clutch at a standstill. Like many others here I have a lot of experience with boxers and the pre-loading seems to work well on all of them. What people need to unde...

Re: 2016 RT With A Rear Car Tire
I'm really not sure what to make of this. Either it's a wind up or the bike must handle weirdly with the wheels being out of line. Or, of course, BMW and the tyre manufacturers really missed a trick here!

Paint repairs
Well I have to own up to being a little bit clumsy and twice my bike has been laid down at a standstill on gravel, leaving the rocker box cover looking somewhat scarred. Fortunately there is a guy living in the village who could do something about that. The left hand pannier had had an argument wit...

Re: R1200RT touch up paint
We have a "Chips Away" guy in the village and his prices are very good for a far better job than I could do three lots of scratches on motorhome and car cost just over £100 but that included everything for first class results.

Steve F. Yes wet manhole covers are B. Dangerous but I was saying "As if" on a wet manhole cover.

Re: Shift Assist problem....
I have found that like the others change 1-2-1 with clutch rest are ok without. That said, with a little experimentation, on up changes the merest hint of slackening the throttle helps the change go through much more smoothly and conversely the very lightest of opening pressure, just "taking up...

Re: Weaving/white lining
I was running 37/42 psi on a 2015 LC and I will try various pressures to see what happens. One day I am steered towards it being a bike based problem then the next tyres.

Re: New Pilot Road 4 just fitted
The need to only use the GTs comes straight from Michelin themselves. "The Pilot Road 4 GT tyres are our only recommendation for your bike. The GT version feature a different and stiffer construction than the regular Pilot Road 4 tyres. They are designed to resisit any tende...

Weaving/white lining
Apologies for what is no doubt a repeat discussion. Am I the only one to suffer weaving/white lining? I swapped a pair of Metzeler Z8s with 4mm tread left on both tyres for a pair of Michelin Pilot 4 GTs because of the handling on the Z8s. At times it felt like the front and rear wheels were not con...

Yes, they MUST be the GT version. They are the only tyres Michelin make for the RT.

How many RT LC owners actually have problems / issues?
I have been experiencing "whitelining " with both Metzeler Z08 and Pilot 4 GTs. This seems to be a little better now the weather is a bit warmer but still not inspiring confidence. This is on a 2015 LC with full luggage. Not a hard rider getting over 50 mpg and expecting good mil...

Re: Locking the Nav5 to the RT...
Much as the easy detatchability of the sat sat nav is a pain in the butt, my solution is to keep the right hand breast pocket of my jacket empty. Then it's a simple case of popping it in there out of harm's way. The downside is putting all your gear back on and realising you haven't put it back again!

Re: Fuel Pump Controller/Flange
Daft as it sounds, I used a J cloth and a tiny cable tie. On the periphery of the flange are several raised parts that can take the tie which then holds the J cloth in place. One end of the cloth is bunched and pushed into the water collection area whilst the other is spread out under the tank cover...
