Re: Shopping for an RT in France
I would not buy in the UK, if you are going to register the bike in France. Now Brexit is more or less a done deal after the election, there could (not necessarily will) be issues in bringing it over. Plus you will need to replace the headlight unit for driving on the other side ...

Re: Nav VI working intermittently with Garmin Safety Cameras?
I know this is possibly a stupid question, and might be considered insulting, (All of which I apologise.) However, when the GPS does not not notify you of a Camera, is it on the same side? I had a Zumo 595, and sometimes it warned me, and sometimes not - it seemed to be when I was approaching the ca...

Re: Safety on the road
...Best advice ever given to me - ride like you expect every other motorist ( and more recently pedestrian) is out to kill you. You will be right more often than you are wrong. That was nearly 50 years ago it is more true today than it was then. ... I totall...

Re: 4 wheel drivers when filtering.
I also noted in France an odd behavior, 'til I realized what it was: as a way of saying "Thanks" to a driver who pulls over to give you room, they'd extend their leg for a moment instead of a wave of appreciation. In Belgium, we also use the hand, leg or anything else to say tha...

Re: Safety on the road
I feel your pain. I used to commute from Brentwood to Barking on the bike 13 years ago and it took me 45-60 minutes for that short journey. the only thing I can say is: "Come to Belgium." Yes you get the crazies, who actively block your path (usually they are the ones with GB on...

Re: Is it me - or is the Nav V / Basecamp completely useless for planning
Yes, BaseCamp as a steep (Vertical) learning curve. Yes, until you know how to use it it can be a pain. I have lost much in the way of blood, seat & tears caused by its predecessor (MapSource), and then BaseCamp. There are good reasons for using BaseCamp. The main i...

Re: Intercom recommendations
i used to use a Cardo system - it was such a success I got my money back and went with Sena (SMH10)! be After many years with a Sena intercom working as it should, I am now considering replacing it. My choice is quite simple Bloothtooth (Sena) or go old school - Wired (Autocom) There are a...

Re: Left hand switchgear dead....
Have a word with your dealer. About that sort of time the RT switch gear was having major quality issues. My 2010RT went through switch gears like it was candy. They were replaced under warranty, eventually BMW managed to get it under control. I am not sure if they still replace ...

Re: Green Card
Even if there is a no exit from the EU, I would make sure that you get a Green Card.
When I was living in the UK, and we were travelling to the in-laws, we always had a Green Card.
It is saves discussions whether or not you were adequately covered.

Re: Mapping Software
Hi, no one is saying you didn't try. I was using the predecessor MapSource, which is also a pain. I will not repeat the words I used while learning both programs - not in polite society! It does pay dividends when you understand it. The zumo forum is open for people to ask questions, and there are ...

Re: Mapping Software
Basecamp is decidedly user unfriendly - until you suddenly understand it, then it becomes easier. I belong to another forum - a Zumo orientated one, they have a link to a good training course : https://www.zumouserforums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=12 If you have a Garmin GPS, ...

Re: Fighting to stay dry
Eventually all gear will start to leak, even the very top end stuff. I used to use the BMW Streetguard 2 suit and after 7-8 years of riding in all weathers the trousers started to leak. The jacket was replaced a couple of years previously, with a Klim Badlands. I am making do wi...
