Re: Riding and seat height on my 2008 RT
The problem with not being able to flatfoot is when you are trying to paddle backwards in a gravelly car park or similar!

Re: Throttle modes?
This isn't been negative (well it probably is) but don't you think in all reality that all these different driving modes are taking skills away from the rider ?? Surely your right hand controls speed and how you apply it. Common sense usually says if its raining or the roads are crappy then the thr...

Re: Need advice for choosing an RT
Hammo, I can't disagree with you more. Private BMW owners who present a documented service history I would trust WAY more than a dealer serviced bike. They tend to be fanatics and have way more integrity than a workshop lad who has to get 'n' number of bikes through in a day. Check the bike very ca...

Re: GPS
IMHO whilst many may use a Smartphone instead of a dedicated SatNav, it's a bit like saying that because a Smartphone has a camera you don't need a DSLR anymore. Some may not, but they aren't the same thing.

Re: New member, researching the 1200RT
I bought a 2007 model a couple of years ago with around 30,000 miles on the clock. I have been to France and Italy on it. I found that the servicing was easy at home, once you work out how to remove all the panels (plenty of videos on YouTube help with that). A brilliant tourer for not much money an...

Re: Weave at slow speed
I don't have one that new, mine is a 2007, but I have noticed this a little too, as if the front is too light. I raised the rear preload a little and it is better than it was, but it is definitely there and more noticeable than on my other bike but I have become used to it and it isn't an issue any ...

Re: Free Play on Both Side Boxes?
I have free play on both panniers and also the top box - in fact much more than the Givi luggage on my old TDM. However, its worked fine to Italy and back and to the Dordogne last year, plus around the UK, my friend's 2009 was exactly the same so I wouldn't be in the least concerned.

Re: Aux Sat Nav Connection
I have a 2007 also. I wired direct to the battery via a fused connection. Benefit - it doesn't go off when you are plotting a route with the ignition off!

Re: 2010 R 1200RT
i have a 2009 R1200RT with 98k+ km on the clock and my 'friendly' BMW service agent tells me that I will need a new back brake disc, due to wear, next service (approx €500) so check the service history for all the big items and when replaced. Regards. €100 part - so €400 labour to fit it (30 - 45 m...

Re: Roads spoiling the riding?
I'm wouldn't be surprised if it's some devious plan to keep traffic speeds down - damn dangerous though and typical of this short-sighted government. Clearly, doing 35 in a 30 is more dangerous than being hit my someone swerving to avoid a pothole.
