Re: RT will not Idle

Today January 30th I got my bike back from the shop. The mechanic checked all the work I had done and confirmed that after he re synced the throttle bodies all was well except for a lumpier that normal idle. He needed a tool to check the cam timing which turned out to be a touch off. According to th...

RT will not Idle

Just changed out the left Cam Chain tensioner at 173000kms on my 2011 R1200RT. Started it up after the job and it seemed to run kind of lumpy. Went ahead and did a valve service. Changed out 6 shims to get back near the middle range. First major shim job since new. Synched the Throttle bodies. Start...

Re: Survey of RT mileages

My 2011 RT has just turned over the 100K mile mark. Has been trouble free other than the rear shock leaked at 75k.

Re: Cost to fit brake pads

Yes its a simple task, but in the video one important step was missed. You know that these rear brakes are called floating calipers. What this means is the caliper is attached to a bracket. The bracket is attached to the rear axle. So now when you apply the brakes the two pistons push the outboard p...

Re: Anyone had LED fog lights knocking out radio signal ??

That is exactly what happened with my wireless bicycle computer and a cheap Asian Led Motorcycle light I put on. The computer would work for a while then quit. Had to get a wired computer. Forget trying to shield it. I tried wrapping foil around the wires, the light, the switch, etc

Re: 2016 RT With A Rear Car Tire

I guess it depends on the road surfaces one rides on. Put a set of Bridgestone T30 on in April. Have 12000 miles on now and at 3mm of tread left in the centre.

Re: Where did you get to in 2016

Bought a 2011 RT SE Tri Color in June with 4000kms on the clock. Rode it around Vancouver Island for a month to see if there where any bugs in my new old bike. With 8000kms and no problems I left the Island and headed east to Nova Scotia and the Atlantic Ocean. Stayed with friends for a few days and...

Re: Transmission fail? Not FD.

I doubt that the drive shaft is worth anything near $1200. Just a price they throw on it and take it or leave it. After all what is a drive shaft. A piece of pipe with a yoke welded on the end. Had a similiar experience with  Kawasaki Vulcan Classic. U joint was gone and from Kawasaki you h...

Re: Seat hight

I'm not as tall at 6ft 2in, but have a 34 inch inseam. I find the seat on the high position works nicley. Completed a west to east coast and back again ride this summer covering 13,000kms. Love the bike.

Re: Connect Etymotic Earplug/Headset

Okay, with further research I will now answer my own question. Have found that the wiring diagram I used was in error. I have found another site finally which has the correct wiring. So the four wire repair cable from BMW which plugs into the appropriate socket is thus, Wire 1 is ground Wire 2 is no...

Connect Etymotic Earplug/Headset

I have spent hours reading posts on various BMW forums concerning the operation of the radio on my 2011 RT. I have a set of the Etymotic  Earplug/Headset Earphones. I have found the 4 pin plug and acquired the repair cable which plugs into it. I have attached a 3.5mm female jack. In the mod...
