Re: No self-canceling turn signals after turns

Sometimes reading the manual helps.  It reads "The turn indicators are cancelled automatically after you have ridden for approximately 10 seconds AND have covered a distance of about 300 m."  My capitals.

Re: Storage Compartment lid Clip, what's it for?

It is for holding the toolkit, which on a 2012 RT is just a screwdriver with reversible blade, one end Philips and the other a flat blade.  The PO must have kept it as a souvenir!

Re: Pheasant 1 RT 0

Could be a lot worse! https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/02/21/motorcyclist-killed-pheasant-struck-helmet-60mph/ I hit a pheasant some years ago in Wales on my R100RT and it just clipped the top corner of the screen.  I though I had got away with it until I got home and found it had crac...

Re: Can I change tyre pressure Indicator from Bar to PSI?

Well, I have changed mine on my 2012 R1200RT MU from Bar to psi using my GS911.  Easy. Using psi gives readings to the nearest 0.5 psi.  Using bars the nearest readings are to 0.10 bar which is 3 times bigger than the psi figure so, in principle, the psi one should give you an earl...

Re: Garmin Map Update - 2018.20

The NT maps, New Technology I believe, are the maps which are used by the older units but only have names using the Latin alphabet.  The NTU maps for the later units use Unicode, hence the 'U', and can show the names on the Eastern European maps in Cyrillic languages, such as Russian, corre...

Re: Garmin Map Update - 2018.20

For completeness the new release is for CN Europe 2018.20 NT.  This works with older units such as the Zumo 550 and 660.  The NTU 2018.20 version for later units like the 590 and 595 was released in August.

Re: 2016 RT With A Rear Car Tire

At the risk of reviving a moribund thread I have just been reading the 2017 manual used by the testers for the annual UK tests for motorcycles (MoT for UK readers).  Excerpts looks like this: Section 4 Tyres Reason for Rejection  1. An unsuitable tyre. (see information column ) Inf...

Re: Hesitation at 4,000 revs?

What sort of revs do you cruise at before trying to accelerate through 4,000 rpm?  I found that even though the bike will run happily and smoothly from 2,500 up to 3,500 after a minute or two of this then the hesitation cuts in when trying to accelerate, perhaps plugs getting fouled?&nb...

Re: TPMS query

Simon,  Yours is a twin cam like mine.  Yes, you can change it with a GS-911.  I have done so myself on mine!  If you fancy a ride to darkest Powys, about 10 miles north of Newtown, I would be happy to do it for you,

+1 for Tony Archer.  He completely remodelled my R100RT seat for £90 inc return postage.  It is now easily as comfortable as my R1200RT standard seat which I find fine

Re: Motorail to Austria & Italy

The Autoslaap train company running from Den Bosch to Livorno etc went bust a couple of years ago (and I am still waiting for some sort of refund).  Now the only option, as far as I know, is the Dusseldorf one.
