Re: ESA

When the bike is going, engine ON, everything is normal. I've been for a couple of 200Km rides since the repair, and everything seems OK. I haven't changed the suspension settings, Soft, Normal, Hard. But will do so next ride.

Mainly curious about the ZERO travel, front and rear, with everything off.

ESA

I have a 2015 R1200RT, 64,000Km. I recently had grief with fork seal blow out. Eventually had them replaced by (I think) a competent mechanic. The question I'm asking, when you sit on the bike, engine and ignition OFF, and you rock the bike back and forth, there is absolutely zero suspension travel....

Front Suspension

Dear All, My 2015 R1200RT suffered a major fluid leak in the LHS front shock. I only do about 5,000 Km per year and thus, have it serviced annually by a BMW technician who comes to your house to do the servicing. Anyway, last August, he noticed that the RHS top of the front fork was "weeping&qu...

Fork Seals

2015 R1200RT. Just had y fork seals replaced. They were both weeping, and my mechanic suggested I should get them replaced. So, after they were replaced, I found that sitting on the bike, engine off, ignition off, front brake applied, trying to "rock" the bike fore and aft. and found that ...

Aftermarkey Tank Bag for 2015 R1200RT

My current OEM BMW tank bag needs to be replaced. The clear plastic top lid has failed, the thing leaks and looks v.second hand. Trying to search the net has revealed v.little as regards if the aftermarket bag will fit my RT, The current bag has a large-ish strap clip (I don't know what they are cal...

Gear lever extension

G'Day All! Just lashed out and bought a pair of DriRider Urban boots. I have had both of my ankles fused, resulting in minimal movement of the ankles (up and down). Have now found that the gear lever is too short for me to fit my new boot under it to change up. I adjusted the home position of the ge...

Re: Instruments completely dead!

Yep! Sure enough, there is a post there to connect a jumper lead to the +ve terminal. Thanks for that. Measured the volts at 12.89, the inbuilt voltmeter in the instrument cluster indicates 12.3V, 0.6V low.

Re: Instruments completely dead!

Wow! I don't know. I'll pull the plastic off again (RHS) and have a better look. The older I'm getting, the more technophobic I'm becoming. Re: the dead instrument cluster...I wonder if pulling the fuses (there's only two of them) to check them, (thereby removing any power to whatever is still conne...

Re: Instruments completely dead!

When all else fails, read the instructions!! Found the fuses, both OK. Went to place meter across the battery, but v.difficult to get to the inboard post. Hit the IGN button, 'lo and behold, the instrument cluster burst into life, started the bike, everything seems to work OK. Anyway, delete all ref...

Instruments completely dead!

Haven't been riding much lately. Start the bike (2015R1200RT, keyless ign) regularly in the shed...starts OK. Battery is about 18month old. This time, failed to start, (symptoms of a low battery) but after several attempts, it burst into life. BUT...now the whole instrument panel is dead. When the I...

Spare key

Fellow RT owners...has anybody out there in cyberville ever used the plastic "spare" key to start their bike? From what I've read you need to pull part of the dashboard apart to get things happening. Alternatively, a direct replacement of the original battery operated key fob would be the ...

Re: Difficulty getting sidestand up

Interesting responses! Thank you. I haven't had a chance yet with the small hose clamp screwed firmly on the ball. I guess when all else fails I could try the piece of string idea. Another thought is to remove the side stand and weld a steel "hook" to the ball, pointing to the rear and the...
