Re: rear shock rebuild
RTMan, You are right, it is a clever and efficient repair on units not originally designed for same. I know two bikers have had same done both very good one on a GS other on a K12.

Re: rear shock rebuild
In the UK MCT Susp and Firefox Racing will service/rebuild ESA units. The parts come over from the good ol USA so a quick search in your area should help.

Have a look at this http://www.visordown.com/features/who-makes-most-reliable-motorcycles
Obvious where the most reliable and unreliable are made without resorting to sweeping statements.

Re: Should I be worried about this?
Those pics of BM corrosion are typical and I have seen same on more BM's than BM's without it. In simple english it is shite and should have been sorted by BM way ago. For the record the BM is a machine and not an icon and to point its shortfalls out is no bad thing, its not like you are slagging of...

Re: Winter Maintenance List
EBC HH pads are superb. I have had them on many bikes including BM's. Top performance, great initial bite and powerful, no disc problems whatsoever. You can progressively brake or throw the anchor out. Far Superior to standard pads on V strom 650,1000, Kawasaki Versys 650, 1000 and as good as origin...

Re: R1200 RT Drive line failures
Major Domo is no dumo, he is right these bikes do have more recalls and issues than they should have considering their price when new, this does include final drive failure. My guess is the Blood Bike Author pointing out the failures of the LC RT's in his group were real and not fantasy. I...

Re: Smoke on startup
What good would it do if scummy is seen on your I Phone nicking your bike, you might as well phone Ghost Busters as the local Plod will treat as low priority "We will call around week on Tuesday, here's a lovely crime number to be going on with"

Re: How old is too old?
If you take it along to a decent BM dealer, get it fully serviced to spec then go for the lapsed extended warranty and you have to pay either a 12 months charge or each month which gives no cover until the intro period is over and you are covered day 1, month 2 onwards....

Re: Black engine. paint/corrosion problems?
RTMan, Is you quoting from the BM dealers book of fob off tricks like : " You used it in the rain, at night, in the day, the water you washed it with was too hot, it was too cold, it was the wrong shampoo, you used too much !!!

Re: Top Box vs Panniers
To be brutally frank all bike top boxes can be forced open without much effort, including the BM one. The BM ones are over engineered for over engineerings sake, why the double skin is it there so Granny can go on a grand tour of Europe in the top box so she can have an...

Re: Top Box vs Panniers
I have an RT TC with the BM luggage. I find the BM luggage way too heavy and prefer GIVI stuff. But the new bike came with its luggage. I never use the panniers unless on a big tour and only use the top box if with pillion (Most of the time) If I need the ability to carry a few i...
