Re: Panniers top protectors

I have used these https://techspec-usa.com/products/panni ... uards.html on my last 2 RT's.

They're not the prettiest but do the job.

They are different. The 2021- onwards has only 4 mounting holes earlier bikes had 6.

Re: R1250 RT: Charging Battery Direct

Thanks all.

Had read that thread. But was just concerned at the contradiction between the handbook & the dealer.

Thanks for the advice.

R1250 RT: Charging Battery Direct

I live in the UK & I’ve had 1 episode of the bike failing to start. The bike is 3 at the end of Feb 2022 so possibly the battery needs to be replaced. Currently bike is with dealer for that just now. I have a BMW charger which I use via the accessory socket. I’ve become aware of the issue with t...

Re: 2021 R1250RT Battery drain/fail to start

I have a 2019 1250RT & use the BMW charger via the fairing accessory socket. It has never failed to operate as you would expect charging the battery & going into standby mode once it completed charging. Is this a software issue with RT’s with the new tft as I haven’t had a problem with my cu...

Re: Sat Nav misbehaving

Hi Gavj The Nav VI manual says that it will fire up as soon as bike power is available. It does not! I have experienced this several times once the battery in the Nav VI gets low. I get a blank screen. It won’t even fire up when you’ve been riding for half an hour. I’ve had to stop the bike wait a m...

Re: Salopette Style Pants

Depends if you want textile or leather. My experience is that some textile suit makers have zip in braces that act like salopettes.

My Revit suit has that option and works very well. It uses the half zip at the back and Velcro attachment at the front.

Re: Exhaust Flap Bowden cables R1250RT

I have had a 1200LC (3/2017) & now have a 1250LC (3/2019). My 1200 never had a problem but my 1250 is having new headers in a weeks time after 2nd time the eml came on. It been put down to the flap. I’ve done 10k miles now. Would have been 15k but for this summer’s issues. It has squeaked a few ...

Re: Back from nearly 3 weeks in the Picos

I’ve been to the Picos 5 times. You absolutely cannot go wrong with the route Easyrider suggested. It’s a circle & you can do it in either direction & you will not be disappointed. You can also go up to Bulnes where there is a funicular railway. If you’re adventurous you can walk to Fuente d...

Re: USB connections

On the subject of usb sticks the bike will read up 64gb sticks but you must format to FAT32.

Windows will not do that natively for you. It will (I think) only format as FAT32 up to 32gb. You will have to get a small prog from the internet that will format the drive as FAT32.

Wunderlich have them on their web site as do Nippy Normans but they’re not ‘in stock’ which suggests still in fabrication or building up production.

Re: Nav 5 charging

I’ve had similar issues with my Nav VI with a blank screen if the battery is flat. My dealer did not mention when asked that it was normal for this to happen. Being a literal sort of chap I quoted the BMW Nav VI owners manual which says:- ‘Turning On the Device NOTE: The device turns on automaticall...

Re: Nav 6 won't turn on and clock frozen in time.

I’ve had a problem with my Nav VI not starting up when in the cradle on the bike. This happens only if the internal battery is flat. If it’s in the cradle for say 20 mins the next time I start the bike (say after a stop) the Nav VI then boots up. Obviously if the battery is flat it won’t start off t...

Re: RT LC Autocom & B2B Installation

Thanks everyone for suggestions & advice.

Chainspeed have an ex Autocom employee who is happy to fit my SPA + B2B.

I'll be making a trip up to them after I've taken delivery in March.

Once done I'll post details of how it's all fitted in.

Thanks again.

Re: RT LC Autocom & B2B Installation

Thanks for all the replies. I'll be giving Chainspeed a call.

I've had Autocom installs in Leamington when they were based there and if there's an ex Autocom guy there then all the better.

Stay safe everyone.
