For me, you just can't beat Rukka and the latest D30 armour they use is excellent.
I owned a Streetguard previously but found it less comfortable (more rigid fabric) than the Rukka. Both were equally waterproof though in my experience.

How old is too old?
A pal of mine is looking at an older RT for around the £2K mark. The bike is over 10 years old and has approx 50K miles on it. He's a bit concerned as to how reliable older bikes are and potential cost of repairs should anything break, so I said I'd ask my knowledgeable friends for some feedback&...

Re: How did they make it so good!
The GS community has a similar saying... ..which is," There are two sorts of riders. Those who have ridden the GS and know that it's fantastic and those that have not, and know that it's rubbish" I have owned a GS and despite the many similarities .... it's no RT :) . The weathe...

How did they make it so good!
Yeah I know I'm in the honeymoon period having only owned the bike for a few days but what a bike it is. I've ridden all sorts over the years and always looked at the RT as a bike you bought with your head rather than your heart and perhaps that holds true for many, but I have to say I've been blown...

Re: Riding position advice
I'm even newer to the RT than you but at 5'10" I'm using the standard seat (almost flat footed) so I'd be inclined to raise your seat and give it a try.
It's a quick and easy adjustment and will improve the angle of your leg/hip/lower back which may well help.

Re: Top Box vs Panniers
I find it weird that so many people talk about getting 'wobble' with their topbox. Admittedly I have been using Givi boxes, rather than the BMW ones, but I am on my fourth BMW bike and I have never felt the slightest of instability on any of them - and that includes the 52L sail that I carried over...

Re: Top Box vs Panniers
I never like top boxes on any of my bikes without a pillion filling the void as I can feel the wind eddies wiggling the bike. That's interesting. I rode yesterday with just the top box and felt the bike wobble 'a bit' .... now I know why! I'm not sure I liked the feeling but now...

C3 Pro or System 6 Evo?
My c3 pro helmet is a bit battered and scratched (4 years old) and it needs a new visor and pinlock. I'm thinking perhaps it's time to treat myself to a new one. The C3 pro has been pretty good to be honest and I'm tempted to buy another, but I recently tried on a System 6 Evo helmet from ...
