Re: 1200rt ABS repair or replace options

In 2012 I had a 2006 RT with ABS module failure and ModuleMasters couldn't get parts for '05/'06 rebuild. It appears from their website that they still can't fix that module but you might give them a call. I replaced mine with a new $2400 module and sold the bike. By the way, techs have told me that...

Re: 2017 BMW R1200RT US Pricing???

Last few days of the month are the deal-making days at most dealerships, especially the last slow weekday. If you can't get a lot of cash off the price ask for accessories you may want like a Nav or installed LED fog lights, and/or that the 600-mi service be included (and make sure it's noted on you...

Agreed modern oils cling to parts when cold. Oil circulation starts with the first revolution so no need to sit idling after startup and nothing in the owner's manual mentions waiting for a warmup before riding off.

Re: new 2017 R1200RT Battery charging

Yes you can attach whatever battery charger you want directly to the battery, no need to isolate the battery. For years I've had an Optimate 4 DP CanBus charger that I plug into the accessory socket when parked. It charges, conditions and does desulfation and at $67 I don't think it's overpriced (es...

Re: Nav VI Media Player

I tried taping 3rd pin from the bottom on the right when viewing the Nav from the rear.  It did not work.  The only change seemed to be the Nav no longer recognizes the ignition is off. I suggest this is the incorrect pin.  Any other suggestions?[attachimg=1] Try 3rd pin ...

Re: Engine performance and smoothness.

These boxers need breaking in. 600 miles is way too early to judge eventual smoothness. Early on, my '16 was pretty coarse and had a harsh annoying sound on acceleration but by 2000 miles it got really smooth up to 4k rpm. By 4000 miles it got smooth to 7k rpm. One break-in trick I tried starting at...

... If I cant buy a bike I like I will buy a little convertible car.  The new Fiat Spider looks cool.  A Miata would be cool... Consider a used BMW convertible -- my wife doesn't ride pillion much but she does enjoy riding/driving our "retirement" car, a 2004 325ci. Smoo...

Many years' Optimate use on my '06 RT, '13 RT and '16 RT accessory sockets. I recommend it.

Re: BLUETOOTH HEADSET ADVICE

Come on boys.  I'm asking for advice on BT kits here.  Before we know it we will be discussing scaffolding. The key question here is connecting both BT headsets to "an audio system." The RT's audio system won't connect to more than one headset unless you use two Schubert...

Re: Blind spot mirrors ... Yay or nay?

Spot mirrors have been essential on all the RTs I've owned, including my 2016.
