Re: Voltage regulator
I compared the readings with an ohm meter from a good one, the only way I know how to check it without a good votage regulator. They ohmed out the same, that is to say I donesn't seem have any open windings. If that means anything at all.. Hope so!! There wont be any engine removal on this guy.

I have a 2014 R1200RT that I had my son install a new battery on. He put the battery in backwards. I heard the horn on it blowing for just a few seconds which got my attention. He didn't have it connected for long, so I then put the battery in corectly but the hron was still going off. The dash ligh...

Clutch bleed
I have a 2016 R1200RT that I need bleed the clutch fluid on. I can't find any good sources on just how to get to the bleeder valve. Its behind the starter as it looks. Does the starter need to come out (if that's even possible) ? does anyone have any information/instruction ? service manuals seem pr...

Re: Engine compatibility
OK, I used the LAST 7 of the VIN and it only showed the 11 00 8 389 101 engine with only the K52 compatibility as a silver engine.. no black. The K54 shows same part number only 100 at the end, only black. Same thing you found. Looking at the parts list and engine pics, it looks exactly the same wit...

I bmw is a smart company that does not build specific engines for every model they bring on the market. But there co...

Re: 2014-2015 R1200RT (K52) engine
Yes, that is correct.. its basically the right half of the engine which makes going that way a really, REALLY BIG JOB. :o So, going the hole engine replacement seems to be the only way that makes any sense here. Anyway location is Lompoc California. These engines seem to be very rare, so if one pops...

2014-2015 R1200RT (K52) engine
My 2014 R1200 RT snapped a right side exhaust valve spring and pretty much did the engine in. I can be repaired so in leu of engine.. right side cylinder, piston, connecting rod would work.

Valve shims
I have a 2014 wet head 1200RT K52. My question is with the Valves and the valve stem shims. Are the intake shims a different size the the exhaust shims? I can't seem to find anything on the shims in any of the manuals or factory manual.
