Re: It's on it's way
Congrats with your new bike. Did you make a test ride before you bought the bike? If not you probably didn't ride it at all yet .......

Re: SOS icon and amber triangle on
Which SW update? Is it the "GS(A) transmission input shaft" SW update? You can check this by pulling the clutch in while riding and then give it full throttle, it won't rev higher than 6000 rpm where as before you would hit the revlimiter.

Re: Cardan check, circlips and software update
You are right, but the recall I'm talking about is Recall code 0000232600, which is the big recall of all R1250GS/GSA/RTP (440.000 bikes in total), taking the bike in for a SW update which should protect the gearbox input shaft from breaking. This new software does not allow the engine revving above...

Re: Cardan check, circlips and software update
I don't think you can't find it there because it is not an actual recall like for the GS/GSA, but the BMW dealer does this SW update while they perform a regular service and has to be connected to the BMW computer anyway.

Re: Cardan check, circlips and software update
This "Cardan resistance check" and corresponding SW update is only for the 1250 shiftcam engines, and only for the GS/GSA and RTP motorcycles or am I wrong?

Blue exhaust collector R1250RT
I noticed while cleaning the exhaust collector of my '20 R1250RT is quite blue; is that normal

Re: SW update for GS/GSA/RTP on my '20 R1250RT
My BMW dealer called me today to say that I was right, BMW Germany headquartes admitted they (secretly?) did put the GS/GSA/RTP software update 0000232600 on my bike (toghether with the suspension SW update if that is true) and will do that on all the R1250XX bikes when they have a regular service. ...

Re: SW update for GS/GSA/RTP on my '20 R1250RT
Thanks. That's also what my mechanic told me. But maybe BMW secretly put the "GS/GSA/RTP" SW update together with the suspension update, I don't know. Like I asked @Old Fox, if you rev your bike pulling the cluth in 3, 4, or 5th gear while riding, does it only reach 6000 rpm, or the 9000 r...

Re: SW update for GS/GSA/RTP on my '20 R1250RT
Well, it will go into the rev limiter, but in normal conditions you never do that off course, but it's how you can recognize if you have the SW update or not. And I don't mind that, but I do mind the loss in power.

Re: SW update for GS/GSA/RTP on my '20 R1250RT
@Old Foxy: If you pull the clutch in 3,4,5th gear and give it full throttle, does it go into the redline (9000 rpm), or is it limited to 6000 rpm?

Re: SW update for GS/GSA/RTP on my '20 R1250RT
I already contacted my dealer which contacted BMW Germany headquarters. Apparently it's not that easy to remove this SW update/put the old SW back. And I actually don't know whether the mechanic can choose a SW update, according to him it was the yellow/red suspension warning light SW update. I know...

SW update for GS/GSA/RTP on my '20 R1250RT
RCRIT-23V011-2024.pdf Last week I had the 20000km service done by BMW on my '20 R1250RT. While doing that they performed a SW update. Mechanic said it was for a warning light for the suspension, now being yellow and after the SW update being red. Strange story but okay. When I picked up my bike I i...

Re: Hearing a click when changing suspension from MAX to MIN.
Emailed my BMW Motorrad dealer last week about my question, and the chief mechanic told me this "click" is normal, so that's fine with me.
