Re: New 2020 or wait for the '21?
I pulled the trigger to buy a 2020 back in October, right before the announcement for the 2021. I’m glad I got it, despite the leaking calipers. (Mine were oozing out brake fluid) The basic mechanics appear to be virtually identical, so I assume the ride-feel will not change over ...

Re: ### BREMBO To Replace My Leaking Hayes Calipers ###
My 2020 returned yesterday from the recall work. The replacement calipers say BREMBO on them. (were “BMW”) It should be easy to identify.

Re: The first 1000 miles on a MY20
I think RT riders look for much more than powertrain and suspension from a bike.

The first 1000 miles on a MY20
I recently traded in a MY11 for a MY20. The cash incentives made me pull the trigger now, rather than to wait for the MY21 Overall, I really like the new model. You can appreciate the 10 years of evolution. It’s familiar, yet refreshingly new in the following areas Handling—feels a bit bigger and he...

Re: 2013 RT fuel strip issue - what are indicators?
So the bike was taken to the dealer expecting the fuel level strip to be replaced. After about a 2 hour wait, I was told that my bike has a float-type fuel level sensor. Not sure what was done, but the indicator worked fine. That was last fall It worked fine since then but today, the symptom returne...

Re: Lost all lights and accessory power 2016 RT
Did the problem occur when it was hot? If it is, then it could be a faulty regulator/rectifier (our intermittent connection). I’d check the electrical values (resistance) for all of the IO.

A loaner K26 LOW seat? (Boston area)
Hello there forum members.
I am looking for someone who would be kind enough to loan me their previous-gen K26 “LOW” seat FOR A FEW MINUTES to test how it feels.
I live in MA (USA), between Boston and Worcester, but would be willing to travel.

Re: About the brain bucket!
While I find riding without a helmet liberating, I find the practice very risky. (very uncomfortable too). I live in Massachusetts, which has a helmet law, but all of the adjacent states near me (NH, CT & RI) do not. I don't want to get into politics about Affordable Care Ac...

Re: Cheap audio?
Please allow me to offer a biased opinion. Why biased? because my engineering degree is in acoustics and I work for an audio company Expensive (the best) route: Bose QuietControl 20. Connected to your smart device via Bluetooth. Active Noise Cancellation is excellent for touring bikes* It's the quie...

Re: Advice to purchase an R1200RT 2008-2014
*as with virtually everyone in this forum, I highly recommend the RT* I purchased my MY11 (low) this past summer with less than 4000 miles on the odometer for less than $10k US from a nearby dealer. The low version was important for inseam-challenged rider like me, but for others, the lac...

Re: valve cover / rocker cover paint
I know this is a dormant thread, but I hope to share my experience with the fellow forum members. Over the weekend, I attempted to repair my scratched valve covers for my MY11 RT. Both covers were scratched due to stationary tip overs. In lieu of purchasing a new set of OE (or p...

Re: TEMP and TPM...blank
Update part deux: over the weekend I did some maintenance to the bike. It was finally warm enough to ride the bike around the neighborhood. The good news is that as soon as I rode above 20 - 30 mph....voila! TPMS is working again. In the end, disconnecting the...

Re: TEMP and TPM...blank
Thanks for the tip. 👍👍 Hmmmm...trying out what the guy on YouTube did look easy enough, but I can also go back to carrying a tire pressure gauge too. Let’s see how the TPMS behaves when I go on my next ride. The TPMS supposedly doesn’t work until you hit 20-30 mph, according to the manual. What I wo...

Re: TEMP and TPM...blank
Resolved. I consider myself lucky. The temp sensor now reads ambient temperature after I disconnected/reconnected the battery. I can't vouch for the TPMS, as it still reads "--/--" but I haven't had a chance to ride it out of my garage. Still too cold in New ...

TEMP and TPM...blank
After 2 months of hibernation, my MY11 RT went for the first long-ish (300mi) ride of the year. A bit of rain didn’t bother me. It is the first ride I f the year, after all. All good, except that the center LCD display went blank for temp and TPM. (Shows “- -“). I had taken off the right s...
