I will be taking delivery of a new RT in a couple of weeks. Apologies if this has been covered before but am I likely to need tank paintwork protectors for the section where the tank meets the front of the seat and the sides of the tank where my knees will be? If so can anyone recommend a clear film...

From what I read the new dash does contain sat nav but only via a phone app but it's a basic set up, i.e. it's arrows only so they still recommend the Navigator to get full mapping

I have an RS Iconic (Sport SE spec) and have just ordered an RT LE sport style in mars red/slate grey. It's much more luxurious, has (for me) a better riding position, more luggage carrying capacity, and some worthwhile extras, e.g. hill start, electric screen, heated seat, and far better instrument...

I bought a RS Iconic last year and have just ordered a a RT LE with sport style package. Much more luxurious but no trade off; it does everything the RS does at least as well but has a few decent extras (electric screen, heated seat, panniers and far better instruments)

Are the dials on the current RT tft as well as the info section in the middle?

The 'computer' part is but the new optional one is completely tft with no analogue dials and a bar graph tachometer with digital speedo.

BMW are rolling this out as an option starting with the R1200GS and GS Adventure. In terms of clarity and comprehensive information available at a glance it looks a big step forward. On the GS configurator it costs £595. The UK Motorrad website says other models "will follow". Does anyone ...

The option with mars red/slate grey paint seems to have what is described as a "sports windshield". It looks a bit smaller in area than the standard one but the fairing looks the same. Has anyone seen one or tried one?
