Re: Insurance quote weirdness.
Went with Bennetts last year at £176, their renewal this year was £240. Went on MCN comparison and got identical package with RAC for £116. Interestingly started doing it on line and it would not let me pay. Called them and whilst I was doing it it had gone up to £156. They agreed to honour the £116...

starting problem
So to update. My 2005 has been sluggish starting as long as I've owned it, even with a new fully charged battery. this week it refused to start at all, so I decided to remove the statrter motorand inspect it. As suspected the bendix was caked with clutch dust and tight to turn. Lokked into...

mothballing a bike here in the UK for 5 months? Hells bells, think of all the glorious riding days he's missing out on. Only thing that keeps me off the road is snow and ice.

Re: Very intermittant miss or surge
I had exactly he same problem on an 850 some years ago. turned out to be a fuel management issue. The mechanic who diagnosed it said it could have been one of six sensors or the fuel management computer (sensors around £100 each, computer around £1000). Only way of fixing the problem was t...

Re: starting problem
Cheers David. this is not the problem. The engine fires up very easily, it's the starter motor struggling to turn the engine over in the first place (as if the battery is discharged), but not all the time. some days it struggles other days it spins the engine without any problem. Hence my ...

starting problem
for as long as I can remember my 2005 has been sluggish starting, as if the battery is on its way out. New battery fitted last year made no difference. Recently it got so bad I considered changing the starter motor. Then yesterday it cranked freely and has been ok today. So the question is why? coul...

Re: Heated Grip Repair
I had the same problem on an 850 some years ago and discovered the element had broken. I found a repair video on you tube and managed to repair it. the wire is the diameter of a hair and it was a very fiddly process. I believe conductive tape is available these days that could be a simpler repair.

I always wear them with a textile jacket and find this to be the best combination that suits me. seldom too warm, and always warm enoung in...
