Re: Issue with Alarm going off without reason.
Thanks guys, for your replies. It could well be down to water ingress but you would expect a BMW alarm sensor would be waterproof, surely? I bought the bike in Feb 2018 (a 2015 model) and so I may take it to CW's and get it checked/replaced whilst still under the 2 year warranty. I will also take ad...

Issue with Alarm going off without reason.
RT1200 (2015). The bike is garaged and, recently, I heard the alarm go off and so went to inspect. There is no security issue and certainly no mice etc., but the alarm was sounding. It has happened about 3 times now - once whilst under cover and the other twice without the cover on. Due to living in...

Re: Easy Access to Battery for Trickle-Charging over the Winter.
Thank you all for your replies and advice. I have an Optimate already set up in the garage but didn't know about the bike's Canbus system as this is the 1st Winter I have had the RT. I will look into that as it seems to be the best and safest way to maintain the bike's battery over the winter period...

Easy Access to Battery for Trickle-Charging over the Winter.
RT 1200 (2015 model).
Can anyone suggest a method, or accessory, to make easier access to the battery to enable the trickle-charger to be used periodically?
Any thoughts / advice welcome!!!
Thanks!

Re: Disappointed
As far as the 'clunky gearbox' is concerned I agree! The strange thing is that my RT goes into 1st gear so easily and quietly, after start-up (when cold!). Thereafter, it clunks when 1st is selected. I can't understand why any bike's gears should make a noise in this day and age when so much progres...

Which Bike covers for winter storage - R1200RT (2015)
I have looked through loads of websites, and this forum, for info on a cover that will completely fit my RT1200 (2015) which also allows for a large top-box (2 helmets) and covers the full bike properly. There are many adverts, on ebay for instance, that do XL sizes but only for small top-boxes. My ...

Re: Headlight Protectors
I too bought headlight protectors from NN. Easy to fit and also to remove for cleaning. So far no issues with stones, birds or any other hazards. My thoughts were simply to fit this and hopefully not to have to replace the headlight cluster.

Re: 2016 Rt - Givi V56 Maxia 4 Top Box Installed
Thank you PWBIKE. I am glad you found it 'pretty straightforward' but, even after your explanation and advice, I still think the diagrams are not too helpful. Interestingly, I have found many other comments, by others who have bought this base-plate, and who also complain at the 'instructions' (diag...

Re: Supplementary Mirrors- Advice needed
JC-Fogel I have just purchased and fitted the circular, stick-on mirrors from Amazon for under £10 the pair. The reason I bought them was that, looking through the bike's mirrors I found the lower-left view (on the right mirror and the lower right view, on the left mirror) was obscured by the pannie...

Re: 2016 Rt - Givi V56 Maxia 4 Top Box Installed
As you'll see from my previous post, I have acquired the plate GIVI SRA5113. Like other comments, found elsewhere on the forum, I looked at the fitting instructions and thought - Oh no! Here we go again. Very much like self-assembly furniture instructions - a series of diagrams only. I have also bee...

Re: 2016 Rt - Givi V56 Maxia 4 Top Box Installed
Thank you for this post. I recently exchanged my FJR for a 1200RT and am delighted with the new bike. I removed the Givi top-box from the FJR and am looking to purchase a fixing-bracket to mount it on the RT. It also has the Admore lighting kit fitted. I mentioned, in another post, about the fixing ...

Re: Newbie!
Thank you to all respondees. Interesting to read your comments. I am impressed with my local dealer (CW, at Dorchester) and the dealer I bought my bike from (Ocean, Plymouth) as they are very accommodating, helpful, friendly etc. I bought from Plymouth only due to them having an RT, in the...

Re: Insurance
I agree with many of the posts above. Insurance is a rip-off and they are always looking for ways to make it more difficult, expensive and finding ways of getting out of claims should they arise. I have just changed my FJR for a RT1200 (2015) and I'm due to renew my bike insurance in March. Online, ...

Newbie!
Hi everyone. I am not sure where to place this, my first post on this forum, but chose this page as there doesn't seem to be an 'Introduce Yourself' on the forum; forgive me if I simply missed it. I collect my 2015 1200RT on Wednesday (7/2/18) and looking forward to it very much. Previously, my bike...
