Re: Cylinder base gasket leaking
Thank you both! Graham88- you make a good point about ease of access to the cylinder head. However, I'm pretty sure this will be no easy task due to the nature of the problem. ElPolloDiablo- according to the mechanic who looked at it, the leak is coming from cylinder base gasket so therefore harder ...

Cylinder base gasket leaking
Hi all, wondering if any clever people have any words of wisdom on an oil leak from the cylinder base gasket. There is a drip on one side when the engine is started and a mechanic has looked at it. He believes it to be due to the gasket and it is leaking from a from a nut at the base. I am told that...

Re: R1200RT oil leak front of engine
Thank you to all! This is very interesting. Milleplod, your diagram is excellent and your explanation gives me hope that I can solve this myself ;D . The reality may be different, but I like to try first anyway. Mine is an 07 plate, so getting on a bit now. But still in good condition. Fro...

R1200RT oil leak front of engine
Hi all, wondering if anyone has had experience with oil leaks? There was a slight oil 'weep' coming from the front of the engine when I bought the bike and I just kept an eye on it as it was very minimal. I expected a pulley seal to be on the way out which would need looking at in the near future. H...

Re: Can't see oil level on glass window
Thanks David, I think I'll add this to flush the engine. The mileage since last service is quite average I guess- about 5k. Just to check..it is best to check level after having run the engine for a bit? When I last checked the bike was run and left for a bit of time so probably should have checked ...

Re: Can't see oil level on glass window
Thanks for both replies. I'll try the first suggestion although I suspect as David said, there is too much oil in there and i can't see the level which should be about half, as the pic shows. May end up doing a full oil change anyhow. Last done October 17.

Can't see oil level on glass window
Hi all, I can't make out the oil level on the glass eye. I have an 07 RT and it is on the centre stand, however when I shine the light on the window all I see is a light brown murky colour. I cleaned the glass but can't see any oil level. Would this likely mean that the level is low or high? Any sug...

Fuel gauge issue
Firstly, Hello to everyone...this being my first post. I have just acquired an 07 plate RT with 42K on the clock. When I started the bike up the warning triangle was on with the fuel gauge flashing empty. I straight away filled the tank up but it is still flashing empty. Therefore I assume it is a f...
