Re: NAV IV Digital speedo question
On all Garmin devices that I have used, if you tap the 'speedo' item on the main map screen, a large digital speedo appears. Does that not work on Nav IV?

Re: 2011 R1200RT: Heated grips too hot on high setting/
If anything, I wonder if the low setting isn't warm enough. As has been said, the hot setting is intended only for the initial few minutes to get them up to temperature, warm up the innards and so on. After that you would normally change to low and leave them there. However, on a previous bike of mi...

Turning off the engine and pushing - especially up those pesky, fuel-burning hills - can help.

Over the 9K miles since I bought it, mine has averaged almost 60 mpg (Imperial).

Re: Aarrgh, not another burned out headlight
This is just my personal experience, not a scientific fact!, but in the past when I have experienced a few blown bulbs, the battery has been on its last legs. I conjecture that the battery acts as a 'reservoir' or capacitor for ultra-brief voltage peaks and troughs. As a battery deteriorates, I thin...

Re: Insurance quote weirdness.
Ah, I'm thinking of moving to Cardiff. I didn't realise it could affect my premium so much!!Hors Piste wrote: Blimey how do you guys get such cheap quotes? Here in Cardiff mine was £405 last year, and they refused to insure it all unless I had a tracker fitted. Bike is kept in a locked garage.

Re: Central locking remote not working
Thanks. I went through the various registering rigmaroles too, and was getting no confirmatory "acoustic signals" as indicated in the manual. However, somehow this has cleared the problem and the remote locking/alarm now works! Now if I could just remember where the hell I've 'safely hidde...

Central locking remote not working
Remote fob LED flashes, but the bike doesn't respond. I've replaced the fob's battery, no difference. Central locking works when I press the handlebar button, which helps for now but I can't activate the alarm. Any ideas? What can I check, please? Background note: This is almost certainly a co-incid...

Re: TPMS: Pressure sensor in wheel
Cheers. The pin is reasonably priced, but postage makes it more expensive than a used replacement off eBay. (I'll use just the pin and keep the sensor as a spare.)

Re: TPMS: Pressure sensor in wheel
Good point. I believe it's only the pin. I had assumed I had to buy both together. Does anyone know if BMW sells the pin separately? (Dealer closed.)

Re: TPMS: Pressure sensor in wheel
I was told it snapped while attempting to remove the sensor, rather than during tyre removal. An aluminium pin in a magnesium rim is likely to corrode. The pin seems designed to snap in order to preserve the wheel.

Re: TPMS: Pressure sensor in wheel
Thanks. Some useful information here. Anyone else have views about whether to buy a used sensor from eBay (rather than new from a BMW dealer)?
