Wet Head HP loss at elevation
Late spring I'll be venturing out to the Rocky Mountains on my '14 R1200RT. Given our boxers are naturally aspirated, does anyone have any experience with HP loss at 5K', 6K-12K' above sea level?
Thanks,
Thanks,

2014-2018 R1200RT wet head rotor tolerances
preparing for my 36K maint. interval. Using a caliper I measured the thickness of my front and rear rotors, results:
Rear: 49mm
Front R: 43mm
Front L: 45mm
Anyone have minimum specs for front/rear rotors for our RT wet heads?

Wood burning smell emitting from my 2014 R1200RT
Came home from work last night, parked my RT in the garage and asked my wife if she smelled word burning. . . "yes, I do". I determined it was coming from my RT. Only thing I noticed was my rear rotor was warmer than my front rotors.
What gives? Any ideas?

Re: Smell akin to burning rubber
I have a 2014 R1200RT and I have also smelled that burning rubber smell, mostly when I'm riding her harder than usual. I always thought it was either the tires or brakes from from trail braking in the twisties, sweepers.

Is this aftermarket battery OK? 2014 R1200RT
My second battery is beginning to show signs of losing its charge. Purchased a XTreme 12V AGM XTAX20CH-BS 12V 18Ah replacement battery which is 18Ah versus the OEM 16Ah yet exact same physical size. Is that OK?? https://www.batteriesplus.com/productdetails/battery/motorcycle/bmw/...

Re: Dunlop Sportmax Roadsmart
Installed Roadsmart III's on the R1200RTW front. After 1,200 hard riding miles still looks pristine. Can't wait for my Angel GT Pirelli rear to wear down so I can match the front.

Re: Illium works Crash Bars
Agree with Jack. Our R1200GS/GSA bretherin simply smirk when their bikes tip over, circle, initial & date the damage with a sharpie and move on ;) . . . not so much on the [much more] cosmetic R1200RT. Best thing you can do is find a good local body shop, paint matc...
