In my own defence, I got sidetracked by thinking it was a fuel delivery problem, as I had already previously experienced (FPC failure), not a fuel presence issue

Why the f!@# didn't BMW just put a normal float-based fuel gauge in these bikes?

Re: Finally happened “fuel gauge “

I thought these things just failed and either showed empty or worked right. Didn't realize they failed part way through their range, too. I've had the one on my 08 replaced already, a few years back. Didn't know they were also prone to going out of calibration and giving false (too high) readings. Y...

Re: 08 RT starts, idles, dies on acceleration

Or maybe I'm just being an idiot and it's just out of gas. https://photos.app.goo.gl/GzDkwW6UmeWMfPwA9 The fuel gauge says there's still gas, and the bike computer says I've got 107 km of range remaining, but I've already gone 505.6 km since refueling, if I'm not mistaken (pretty sure I reset the tr...

08 RT starts, idles, dies on acceleration

TLDR: engine died with no power while riding. Engine will (sometimes) restart and idle, but dies once any power is requested. While out touring this past weekend, riding along at about 100 km/h, coming out of a curve, the bike just died on me. No response to the throttle at all, right down to a stop...

Re: New owner - '08 R1200RT

Thanks for the tips, guys.
I think the Aeroflow windshield might be a bit bigger than I want.  I was thinking a couple inches extra in height, not 7.  It's already huge!

Re: Ordered a new R1250RT today

I made the mistake of taking a 1250 for a test ride yesterday. Today I part ex my 2014 RT for a 1250, which arrives in April. Ooops, that will be me in the spare room for a while  8) I just bought an '08, my first BMW.  I'm not even reading or watching reviews of the 1250 - I don'...

New owner - '08 R1200RT

Hi, All. I'm the proud new owner of a very clean, low mileage (37,000 km) 2008 R1200RT.  It has the TCS, heated grips and seat, ESA.  No stereo or TPMS, I don't think. Previous bikes, over the last 25 years, include (from latest to oldest): Yamaha Fazer 8 (FZ8S) - still in the gara...
