Re: Insurance quote weirdness.

Not so sure about cost reduction.  Our X5 got err.. damaged by some street furniture .. and has been with the repairers for 28 days awaiting an intercooler as the part isn’t available.  That’s 28 days with a hire car that would have been ten days normally.  The hire car co...

Re: Insurance quote weirdness.

£4 saved, 90 mins spent.  Not minimum wage that, not even close.  I’d spend 90 mins for a 4% reduction on my £1800 premium though..  :-)

Re: Insurance quote weirdness.

You are worried about a quote of a few hundred quid?  LOL.  My insurance (2019 RT SE London 1 yr NCB full A for 25 years) is £1800.  Or about 30p a mile.

Insurance is the largest cost of ownership for me.

Re: Protecting plastic bits - temporarily

I’ve got the Wunderlich pannier protector bars and some BMW head guards.  The work very well. Don’t ask me how I know.

Re: Scratching the pegs down

Yes I’ve got the sensors and the Nav V that tells me how far over I’ve been.  Not that it tells me at the time which would be dangerous. It’s a sports tourer.  I bought it as than just a straight tourer.  If I were to do a straight tour then I might as well go in my car wh...

Scratching the pegs down

At what angle of lean do your hero blobs go down?  I’m at 44 degrees and have worn away a reasonable chunk of the feeler.  Lots of dry Italian mountain roads and brilliant sunshine are to blame.  Not me.  Honest guv... Anyway.  It seems like my bike has l...

Re: Brand new 1200RT - won’t engage 3rd when warm

It’s getting better with more miles.  Now at 1670 miles and in Italy.  Gearbox working fine when using clutch.  Quick shifter is good, most of the time.  Possibly user error when it isn’t.  Thanks for the support.

Re: Brand new 1200RT - won’t engage 3rd when warm

Final post on this.  Picked the bike up again (after the loan F800R it felt enormous).  They’ve reset and recalibrated the “gear shift assistance pro”.  It now changes gear much more easily.  Not sure why.  Took it onwards to Cambridge and back and had no...

Re: Brand new 1200RT - won’t engage 3rd when warm

I know who did and the apartment porters took a copy of the chap’s licence and phone number.  In UK law we don’t need to report to police.  There was no attempt to drive off, although if it were on the street I might not have been so lucky. Will post updates on gearbox when I’ve ri...

Re: Brand new 1200RT - won’t engage 3rd when warm

Update / thx for the comments. 3rd gear - problem not recurred in dealer ride nor a 30 mile return journey they made.  I will check again. It happened twice in several hundred changes when I rode to dealer.  We shall see.  One thing they did say was the quick shifter wasn’...

Re: Brand new 1200RT - won’t engage 3rd when warm

Oh yes. Hadn’t thought of that. Oh.

Pic of RT when I found it.  Big whack to push it onto kerb.  Amongst other things I note the Side stand needs replacement. The foot is bent.

It’s not looking good.  None working days until I leave.

Re: Brand new 1200RT - won’t engage 3rd when warm

It has been knocked over in the secure Carpark by and Uber driver and is damaged.  Ho ho ho.  It gets more complicated day by day.

Re: Brand new 1200RT - won’t engage 3rd when warm

All good advice.  Will go have a quick ride today and see.

Bike was a very good price. Dealer had imported a bunch in case of Brexit and had a long stock list.  I needed one and a used version wasn’t much cheaper at all.  So manufacturers warranty will be useful.

Re: Brand new 1200RT - won’t engage 3rd when warm

Thx. Didn’t think it was a excess fluid problem but that’s the only thing I can see that is related after a search. Indeed it will be going to dealer, in second the whole way if needs be.  Just after some more background from those with more miles under them so I can press dealer as necessa...

Brand new 1200RT - won’t engage 3rd when warm

Just picked up my new 2018 model RT yesterday.  12 miles on the odometer when I picked it up.  Riding home and I struggle to engage 3rd going up the box, to the point of being completely unable to select the gear at all. And then after riding in second for a few more seconds I can ...
