Re: Fourth battery in FOB 2016 RT LC since May
It is either in my tank bag or where it is kept off the bike.

Fourth battery in FOB 2016 RT LC since May
I’m on my fourth battery in my FOB since May. Key missing display comes on then off. Range of FOB decreases. Dealer says I’m using the wrong brand of battery. Any others having problem?

Re: Long time, no post - a couple questions
I've only had my 2016 RT for 1 month but quick shifting up from 2-3 has never felt good. The bike was in for service today and they have replaced the gear shift actuator. If I notice a change I'll report back. Likewise I am enjoying mine and looking forward to my Scotland trip in a couple of weeks.

Re: 2020 Annual RT Meet
Have been back through this thread, my PM's and emails in the hope that I've identified all those who have requested a copy of the route(s) for the RT meet. If you now haven't got the most recent Clockwise & Anti-Clockwise routes and would like a copy, please let me know. David i'd be intereste...

High voltage and standard recovery modes are disabled in the CanBus setup.

Re: Trickle charging
Hence bypass the gate and go direct to the battery. Simples.David. wrote:

Re: Trickle charging
Unless the battery has been neglected and is very flat (sulphated), the Optimate 4 (dual CAN-bus version) should work just fine through the accessory socket. This program is designed for charging, testing and long term maintenance of batteries mounted in vehicles fitted with CAN-bus. Opti...

Re: Trickle charging
That's why I use a BMW charger, it talks to the bike and the two work together to keep the battery in the best possible condition. I’d rather take the money I saved and buy my mates a few rounds. BMW charges £68 for the special oil. At the end of the day it is oil. The “special” charger is BMW prof...

Re: Trickle charging
I would recommend plugging a pigtail directly into the battery and using the charger in standard mode. Charging via CanBus for example via an Opitmate you are only using a fraction of the feature on the charger.

Re: USB in the top box
That is exactly what I want to do (except I would run two USB) and plug directly into the battery as I want things to charge my helmet while the bike is off. If I need a compressor or anything I will plug directly into my Optimate socket. I can see that from the post from the K1600 forum that getti...

Re: Quick shifter problem?
Spoke to BMW today. My bike won't start in first gear with the clutch in and side stand up. I was aware of the micro switch in the side stand but that there is also one in the shifter (I guess this is how the bike knows that you are intending to switch gear if the clutch is left in). Perhaps these t...

Re: Quick shifter problem?
We was discussing the shit assist on Sunday's ride out. I've got a 16 GS with it and the other two lads have 19 RT's, two of us felt it worked better if it was preloaded before the actual shift, ie slightly pressing the gear lever until a resistance is felt and holding it there till the shift. Mayb...

Re: Quick shifter problem?
Hats off to the BMW marketing people. Who knew you could use “judder” and “blipping” in such creative ways.
