I've used brighter ones in the past. They're somewhat brighter and whiter but don't last long. They have a life expectancy in the hundreds of hours. Not worth the trouble IMHO
I have switched to an LED bulb and haven't had to replace it in more than 50K km.

Re: Denali Soundbomb problem
You need a relay or otherwise using the horn will trip the Canbus. The horn wire is used to activate the relay. The only way to reset the Canbus is to shut the bike down. Hornig has a horn kit with the relay and wiring. You can probably make all the parts cheaper but the pics and video on their site...

Re: Engine Break-In
There's a video from MCGARAGE floating around on the net of a comparison of two similar engines being broken in, one following the manufacturers recommended procedure, the other the ride it like you stole it way. They then disassembled both engines and found no notable difference between the two. Th...

Whatever you decide to buy, get LEDs that are Canbus compatible. Otherwise you will get error codes.

Re: New rules on filtering to front of traffic in France?
PatM, AAA says a non-member can get the permit for $20, photos for $10. One year expiration date (tho' I think you can get it for two years, too). The ticket I got was in-town, so maybe the 5 kph rule applies only to higher speed limits? I was in Montreal two...

Re: New rules on filtering to front of traffic in France?
Up here, the CAA issues the IDP. You don't have to be a member, the cost is $25 CDN plus the photo if you don't have a passport type photo. This link answers most IDP questions. It should be the same in the US. https://www.caa.ca/services/travel/international-driving-permit/ I'm surprised you got n...

Re: New rules on filtering to front of traffic in France?
I'll be doing a lot of riding/living in France, from the U.S. Anybody know how filtering or other tickets impact U.S. riders' licenses, registration, etc.? I figure that, being a close neighbor, the UK (tho Brexited from the EU) might still have some reciprocity as to penalty po...

There's an old joke that's been going on for years, in the UK, you ride on the left, we, in Canada, ride on what's left.

Re: Nav V - very weird
https://images.app.goo.gl/VHZeMab6Jn8UVvFE6 Understood, but there was no map, just a grid like this. And it wasn’t my data. That's weird because it shouldn't appear on your bike. That screen is the My Motorcycle screen and is only available on bikes with the LINBus. Not from wifi or Bluetooth. Only...

Re: Which Sat. Nav. have you got & why?
I have both a Nav V and a Nav VI. My bike came with the Nav V, never had any issues with it except the screen which you can barely see with a bright sunlight behind your back. Lately, the total NA won't fit in memory so I had to add an SD card. A friend of mine sold me his used Nav VI at a significa...

Re: Nav 6, R1200RT 2018, My Motorcycle app not showing.
On a '17 RT, I remember I could select View with the menu button and then scroll with the wonder wheel to get to the My Motorcycle page.
However I don't know if the My Motorcycle app is visible when the Nav VI isn't in the craddle.

Re: Low beam issues
Unless it's changed from my 2005 and 2009 RT, the single center bulb is for the high beam. Natch, it only comes on when thumbed on. Have the wires to the bulbs been switched by any chance? I'm totally with you on the torture and time required to change any headlight bu...

Re: 2013 or 2014 RT?
Which is better? '13 is the last of the air-oil cooled. I think the worst case problem would be a clutch replacement. You need to remove the whole rear part of the bike. '14 The first of the wetheads, new tech at that time, first year issues as David has written, a new stator was introduced in May '...

Engine valves cover gasket
[size=14px]I did the valves on my R1200 RT last week. Everything is good except I saw a few drops of oil leaking from the valve cover after my first long ride even though it was torqued to spec. Just being curious, I searched and can't find an answer, is there an expected life for the valve cover g...
