Re: Anyone bought a bike without a test ride
I’ve bought a lot of new bikes from dealerships and have never asked for or requested a test ride. I’ve also bought a lot of used bikes (and cars) online, sight-unseen, and never had an issue.

Re: How many miles are too many?
$9500 seems ridiculous to me. That’s about how much I’d take for my fully-kitted, fully maintained ‘15 RT with only 19k miles.

Re: How many miles are too many?
Not an RT, but my K1200RS went 134,000 miles with nothing more than scheduled maintenance, oil changes, tires, and batteries. I sold it when I bought my ‘15 RT, simply because I didn’t have the garage space. It was a phenomenal motorbike but for me, for now, my RT is even better.

Re: How many miles are too many?
There are lots of RT’s of that vintage available for sale, and the values haven’t held up terribly well, so the deals are out there. If the mileage bothers you enough that it makes you anxious and concerned, pass on it and keep looking. That said, if the bike has been properly maintained, there’s no...

Re: Sena vs. Cardo
I’ve used a Sena 20S EVO for several years and have been quite happy with it, mostly for music and phone calls. I recently purchased a Schuberth C5 with the built-in Sena unit, which is basically a Sena 50S with mesh. The sound quality is excellent — better than my 20S — but I find the buttons to be...

My local dealer (U.S.) falls over himself just to get me to agree to take one his loaner bikes, au gratis. No questions asked.

Re: Intercom - Where do I start?
I’m a long-time C3-Pro / Sena 20S EVO rider but just bought a new C5 with the integrated SC2 comm system. It’s essentially a 50R. The fidelity is much improved over my 20S but the control buttons are a bit tougher to navigate with gloves. It’ll take some time to get oriented and accustomed to it. At...

Re: European ATM charges
Mike, check your bank’s website to see if they waive fees at specific partner banks.
I’m in the US and the bank I use, Bank of America, allows fee-free debit card ATM withdrawals at Deutsche Bank (Germany and Spain),Barclays (UK),BNP Paribas (France),BNL d’Italia (Italy),etc.

Re: Typical wait for service in the US?
This time of the year, yes, dealer service departments can get overwhelmed by everyone getting their bikes ready for the summer riding season. Many dealers will remain busy throughout the summer. If possible, try to postpone regular servicing until the slower winter months when they’ll be able to ge...

Re: Helmet intercom system
Consider a Sena SMH10. It’s one of their basic units and is fairly inexpensive (<$175 US). It allows you to connect to your cell phone wirelessly for hands-free calling, plus you can listen to music on your phone if you’re so inclined, all with voice commands or by using the large jog wheel and butt...

Re: Gearing up for my last best bike. Strongly considering the RT. What says you?
Really depends on what you’re looking for. We’re not unlike — we have the same number of years riding experience and I bought my ‘15 RT at about your age as my “last bike.” I’ve had no issues with it and absolutely no regrets. It’s not my only bike, but for certain of my needs (one- or two-up, multi...
