Re: Transmission Noise when engine braking
Interesting video. Thanks. Yes when clutch is out and neutral my bike sounds like a London cab, it has a distinct rattle which disappears with pulling the clutch home. The bike has always been like this and I thought it not much to worry about until the clutch needed replaced. Nice to know it could ...

Re: Transmission Noise when engine braking
Oh just a note on the "not very clear description" sorry I forgot to try and clear it up. the noise/ vibration is only heard felt during engine braking (not neccesarly heavy engine braking just a slight dip of the throttle) and never heard whilst on the throttle. It's not noticeable during...

Re: Transmission Noise when engine braking
Hi David, Apologies i forgot to mention I did valve clearances and throttle sync in november likely 6kish back, I'll check this over again as it is an easish one. That said maybe I'm not doing it right so will refresh my memory on it. I'm mechanically minded but tbh always learning and never really ...

Re: Transmission Noise when engine braking
Hi David, Nothing has been done service wise with the transmission or splines etc. I have been slack. Just standard oil changes, sparks, filters, pads, discs, calipers, tyres, wheel bearings etc. I did have to piss about with the throttle cables for the while since the splitter box was gubbed and ha...

Re: Transmission Noise when engine braking
Thanks David, I took it out this evening for a local potter about to try and assess, I'm always in a rush on the commute and 95% is fastish carriageway. It appears the noise and/vibration isn't noticeable in low gears or speed but is in 4/5/6 gear peaking at 4000rpm higher it disappears and/or isn't...

Transmission Noise when engine braking
Hi, I'm hoping for some pointers BMW R1200RTP 2008 65k Transmission noises during engine braking with slight vibration felt under seat. Noticed it on my last 2 commutes to work. I've had this bike for 2yrs and put on 15k so I'm familiar with the feel of it but less clued up with the mechanics. This ...

Re: R1200rt 2009 - throttle stuck on Max :-s
I agree, I'll need to be wiser with the order I do things next time too, I got lazy with heaving the relatively full tank on/off to trial start it all the time. Cheers.

Re: R1200rt 2009 - throttle stuck on Max :-s
Hi David, I found a bit more time today to tinker. I pulled of both stepper motors, behind the seals ie internally all seemed clean however sealing faces were all pretty crusty so clean all up and re installed. I pulled the tank of one last time checking the routing again and removed the pulley in t...

Re: R1200rt 2009 - throttle stuck on Max :-s
Hi David, thanks for the comment. Re 02 I’ll have to wait and see what bother I’ve caused. So far the gs 911 and general display doesnt flag any faults not to say they won’t come. I’ve only been letting it run 10 secs at a time to not piss of the Neighbour’s with the high revs. The TPS position was ...

Re: R1200rt 2009 - throttle stuck on Max :-s
Ok finally got a new tps sensor on today then did a throttle calibration but no change. I was hoping it was going to be my silver bullet alas no. Status is therefore idling upto 5k when I start and when I disconnect the tps it drops to 1k. Whilst I’ve been waiting for the tps I’ve done a few other j...

And anothet one I didn't know about but will be performing. Sorry probably all basics but new to me. BMW TPS Reset TPS reset routine: 1) Disconnect battery for about 30 seconds then reconnect (causes ECU to lose it's memory of Throttle Position Sensor). Re: throttle sticking on Max :-s
Looking at this thread, https://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php/340637-How-to-fix-a-malfunctioning-Throttle-Position-Sensor the TPS may be u/s. "It goes straight to 5000 revs which is exactly what happened to a friend of mine when he broke the TPS in a drop". Finally found this quote...

Re: R1200rt 2009 - throttle stuck on Max :-s
Your comment on you mate dropping his rt and damaging his TPS which resulted in a 5k idle made me think I'd just get the TPS noted above since it's worth eliminating from the problem for £30. I had 20mins to fiddle with the 02 sensors today and check the connector etc these appeared all ok. The cyl ...

Re: R1200rt 2009 - throttle stuck on Max :-s
lol , after reading the same article I've bought it already! Thanks for looking this out for me though. I was wondering about posting a separate thread on it for comment. Also I found some alternatives for the O2 sensors which I was going to float, I've hesitated to buy them tho since there may be l...
