Re: Puff of Smoke
I think it is a known effect when you park boxers on the sidestand, although I am no expert and always use the centre stand in the garage. Oil collects in the lower cylinder head on the side stand

Re: Undo the auto lock for Gas Cap
I don't understand the concern about the keyless fuel filler. If it fails, you remove two screws and it opens. The tool is under the seat.

I would expect that to leave it permanently locked.David. wrote: The cap lock "appears" to be electrically operated, at a guess, could try and disconnect it at the plug and see what happens.

Re: Battery Chargers
Out of interest, have you tried using the rear socket and which battery charger are you using, BMW or Optimate 4 Can Bus. This problem was with a BMW charger! Yes, I have tried the rear socket - doesn't work. Optimate 4 charger. Front one is fine. I have seen other comments reporting the same issue.

Re: Battery Chargers
As far as I know the 2021 RT works fine from the fairing aux socket, not from the rear one. Mine charges fine through the front aux socket. No need for direct battery connections.David. wrote:
Some new R1250RT's won't accept a charge via the onboard socket, keep it simple and go directly to the battery.

Thank, I will have to give it a go. I might have two overnight stops to allow for travelling from home and allow for photo stops.

Yes, you could be charged duty, VAT and a handling fee. Sometimes things sneak under the radar but that is usually low priced items or items with misdeclared contents labels.

https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/global/article/detail/T0318654EN/the-new-bmw-r-1250-rt?language=en The link lists the differences. The fairing and screen are different on the 2021. On the 2020 you would need to use a BMW Navigator in the satnav holder. 1000+ miles on my 2021 and no complaints about t...

Re: TFT and General stuff on the 21 R1250RT
The picture in the manual shows both when it isn't low on fuel. Mine is currently low on fuel but when I fill up I will experiment by removing the range from the mode display and see if it appears on the fuel guage.
