Re: Smoke on Start up After Sitting for a While
Ok, just to close the loop.... I've had the bike on its centerstand for 3+ weeks. I started it last night and no smoke on start up. So, not using the sidestand for long periods seems to have solved my problem. Thanks to all that contributed to this solution to something that init...

Re: Time for a new suit
I love BMW and Rukka Gear. I put BMW at 1st, Rukka at 2nd (tied). My other 2nd place gear would be KLIM.
I have a KLIM Latitude set and it is quite nice. Some vents, all gortex and pretty rugged.

Re: 2017 RT
Late to the game, but I think the improvement you are referring to was in the shaft/final drive and that happened between 2016 and 2017. One thing that was an important point to me was that the lean-angle ABS was standard on all 2018 models. I believe it was optional on 2017 mode...

Re: Smoke on Start up After Sitting for a While
Ok, based on all the great replies, I ordered a Park-n-move dolly from AdaptivTech (https://adaptivtech.com/products/park-n-move-br-m-01-01). Not cheap, but hopefully since I have to have it on a dolly in my garage, the centerstand-dolly approach will be better than my current harbor freig...

Re: Smoke on Start up After Sitting for a While
Thank you all for the comments. I do park it on the side stand as its on a dolly to put it into a tight spot in our garage. It looks like white smoke (not steam) as it doesn't dissipate quickly if its not windy. It doesn't have a blue tint to it and after a couple of mi...

Re: Under seat storage
Please let us know if you find a hidden space for everything/anything. Amazing that on a bike this big, there is very little room to stash small items.
My XR has a fair amount of room under the seat. I have my air compressor, tire kit, some tools, etc there no problem.

Smoke on Start up After Sitting for a While
Not sure this is a "Problem", but after sitting for a few weeks, I started my 2018 RT and noticed more white smoke/steam/fumes than I would normally expect on a warm morning in the southeast. It did stop after a 2-3 minutes and the bike performed flawlessly for 265 miles that day...

Re: Rukka Forsair Pro Jacket Size 50 with Rukka back protector
For anyone interested, I have this same jacket in a 50 as well, but here in the US I believe it's referred to as the Stretch Air. For size reference, I wear a 52 in all my BMW jackets (Airflow, Airshell, Boulder, TourShell) and a Medium in Klim (Apex Air, Latitude, Induction). If you wear ...

Re: Considering Coming Over from S1000R - What to know?
Sorry, late to the party. Congrats on the new RT! I really enjoy mine. Did you consider an XR? I can get 200 miles out of a tank, it's more comfortable than my RT and a heck of a lot faster. But, 2-up is not really an option and wind protection is nothing comp...

Re: From RS to RT
Jump in, the water's nice and warm.... I've never really understood the RS (no offense), but you get the ergos of a sport bike with the performance of a touring bike. Now, I'm the first to admit that it is a great looking machine....it just seems to look much fast than it is I guess. The X...

Re: Will panniers from a 2017 RT fit a BMW 1000XR?
Although I don't have the OEM panniers for my XR, I'd be shocked if the RT panniers fit on the XR. There is a different mounting structure on both bikes from my memory. The RT bags attach at the top, where the XR bags attach at the top and bottom. The OEM XR bags are re...

Re: Spare key
Does anyone keep their plastic "spare" key on their bike? I'm thinking of taping it to somewhere out of sight just in case. I have tested it's range and it will not start the bike from anywhere except right above the dash where shown in the photo above. Any thoughts on ...

Re: First boxer needs accessories
Clearly different bikes with a different purpose, but why did you trade the XR? Did your plans change, just wanted something new or issues with the XR?
You can see why I ask below....I love my XR but it's not a 2-up machine in my opinion!

Nice case, I have the same one in dk blue.
I would suggest that you put this in the "For Sale" section as it will likely get more traction there....

Re: Help me decide! RT1200/Trophy/RT1200?
Seems like an obvious answer to me....2014+ RT. As was said above, a month from now, a few extra bucks in your pocket will long be forgotten as you enjoy your new bike!
