Interference from USB charger
Hey guys, I've installed a USB charger to power a Quad Lock wireless charging head. (on a 2021 R1250RT) For power, I tapped into the Powerlet cabling under the right had side fairing cover. The charger and excess USB cable is curled up under here and cable tied to hold it secure. Since installing it...

Re: Phone Mounting - Power Options
I have a USB powered DAB radio on my bike on my 2019 1250RT. I drilled a 16mm hole through the side of the fairing pocket and sealed it with a grommet. I am not worried about water ingress through a hidden-away grommet that far above the ground. Hope this helps.... Hey mate, did you need to remove ...

That's a good idea David...thanks! Anyone know if there's a way to run a cable out of that little pocket without drilling a hole or affecting the waterproof nature of it?
Cheers,
Rick

Re: Phone Mounting - Power Options
I don't have a 1250 RT but I presume the panels are similar to my 2014 RT LC. The tank as such stays put. What you need to do is remove the panels. You might be able to get away with just taking off the front side panel the one with the BMW logo on it. Be very careful removing this panel. Undo the ...

Re: Phone Mounting - Power Options
Ok...I have decided to run a USB charger from the battery up to the cockpit / just below the handlebar area. Does anyone know how you would go about running a cable up that way via the existing wiring loom? Does the tank need to come off or just the fairing? Just curious how hard this might be or if...

Re: Phone Mounting - Power Options
The other option if you think you may need power to more aux items is to fit one of these. http://www.easternbeaver.com/Main/Wiring_Kits/Fuseboxes/fuseboxes.html This gives you switched power and provides a completely separate circuit away from the bike's Can-Bus. You will still need a charger to c...

Phone Mounting - Power Options
Hi all, Me again....thanks to all that helped out with my previous post on Phone mounting options. I ended up going with the solution in the attached pics.....making up that solution is a Quad Lock Handlebar mount, a Quad Lock vibration dampener (to prevent you destroying the camera image stabilizat...

Re: Engine Break-In
I'm not 100% sure, but isn't pre-running in engines in the factory a thing? Maybe they do that on trucks where they know running it in according to limited guidelines isn't practical?

I bought this. Works well. Cheap too. Rick G That looks perfect mate.....thanks! Any idea what the torque setting for that bolt should be when it's done up again? Or should I just use the highly scientific "tighten the crap out of it" technique? Cheers, Rick

Re: Seriously considering an R1250 RT.... couple of questions for those in the know
-first up, I don't have a smart phone, nor do I want to own one. Am I correct in understanding that the 2021 TFT equipped model can only deliver navigation and music via a smart phone? And that a 2020 model has an integrated GPS system in the dash that doesnt require connection to a phone? Yes, corr...

Re: Phone Mounting Options - Please Help
I had problems too with a Galaxy S10 and BMW suggested things to fix. This thread has more info: viewtopic.php?t=6.45 I'll give those tips a try, thanks! Although I'm not sure it's related to keeping the app on....it fails to connect immediately. Why not take the case off your S9+ and don...

Is this the type you are trying to fit.
No, I was trying to fit a Quad Lock fork stem mount, but it looks like the one you've posted a pic of could be the answer, so thanks!! I'll just have to add a RAM to Quad Lock converter.
Cheers,
Rick

Re: Phone Mounting Options - Please Help
Hi Rick my advice is to preserve with the App, it works but you gotta follow the yellow brick road and understand/accept its limitations. If you do decide to do this, its not a bad idea to buy a second hand phone and think of it as your GPS/Music system, you can lock this in the pocket (a...

Re: Phone Mounting Options - Please Help
I have a Ram ball mount on the yoke together with a ball mount case, all bought from Nippy Normans. I also have a Ram Spider phone mount for sale as well. Ok, the BMW logo does just pry off (thanks Levisp !! ). Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be room to fit a fork stem mount due to the large nu...
