Re: Fuel Strip
For the records (this post has been here for a while) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNRRy1yCpHc&t=71s has a cheap and easy fix. Cheers Hi all. My 2005RT left me stranded yesterday on a ride out through Wales.... on the way home it died, I suspected a fuel problem straight away, and ...

Fuel gauge strip
Hi all, did you have the problem that the fuel gauge didn't work for you and it's the old models with an electronic strip rather than a float? Mine failed to work when - rather inconveniently - the tank was less than ¼ full. There is a trick where you can use a piezo lighter electric charge to wake ...

Good idea John,
powder coating is a grand idea. Probably saves me from re-spraying them every other year.

Re: Fuel Strip
@matgriff did you solve the issue? How did you?
Basically I have the same problem. Run dry at 325 miles whilst the fuel gauge showed about 1/5 full. Now I just use the odometer to gauge the fuel :D
But it would be nice to fix it

Re: Left turn signal quit working
I had a similar issue. Tried the hazard lights - bulb was fine as all 4 indicators worked fine. Disassembled the multi-switch as far as I could. Somehow my model doesn't seem to have a screw underneath the label on the underside (handle bar facing) side of the switch. I got the orange plastic part a...

Re: Under seat storage
Just thinking out loud here:
can you get water tight bags and tie them to the frame with velcro?
e.g. https://www.thenorthface.co.uk/shop/en- ... small-astp
has a lot of fastenings through which one could feed velcro strips

Re: Hi from a new member (and anyone up for UK Sussex rides?)
Dang.
I'll keep the Monmouth as a second option in case my planned ride-out runs dry (or too wet for some ).
Is there a meeting point/time for the Monmouth ride-out day?

@bieffe has nailed it for the wheels.
I got a reply from a UK paint shop where one can order exactly that:

Hi BoB21 and Sullivj,
is the Monmouth only 10th/July or 10th & 11th? I got a ride out with a couple of friends towards that direction and could make it a little later/meet up the next day (11th).

That's great @David. Thank you very much!
The OEM sites don't seem to list the paint colour for this year (2005) unfortunately. The link provided is indeed a good starting point - thanks a bunch.

Hi from a new member (and anyone up for UK Sussex rides?)
Hi all, brand new to the forum here and wanted to say 'Hi' be. Having moved 'up' to a 1200RT from a 1150GS recently (or should I say side-ways?) I still feel like a RT rookie with 1k miles in the saddle. Well actually before the GS there was flying brick K1100LT so I am quite used to the tupperware&...

Re: Best oil for your bike
I have been using 20W50 for my beemers. Having tried 10W's ended up burning too much of that. Now I simply use 20W's and are even more careful warming up the engine sufficiently before going hard on the throttle. Very little oil gets burned. Oh and I park the bike on the main stand not on the side s...
