Re: Theft
I was commuting into Manchester for 3 years on my RT. On sperate occasions, bikes either side of mine had security chains ground off by scumbags on scooters (local office workers saw them and called the police). My RT was never touched! either they think its to hard to steal or they don't want it? T...

Re: 2019 R1250 RT LE Corrosion
Thanks for replying and sorry I'm so slow to respond. I thought I had notifications set but I didn't!
The engine has done 4k miles now and is much better, very similar to old one. I'm hoping the corrosion doesnt reoccur but time will tell.

Shad Click System tankbags
Hi, has anyone tried or got one of these? My givi bag's zip has gone and I need a new hard shell bag. The givi fouled the bars on full lock. You could do it with a push (the fog light switch would activate). So ideally I want a better fit from a narrower bag. I know there are other brands but the ne...

Re: 2019 R1250 RT LE Corrosion
Final update. I got the bike back from BMW in April and they replaced the complete engine, rear wheel and the shaft drive casing. After removing the shaft drive they found that the drive itself was seized so they replaced that as well. They shared the parts invoices (engine was 8,000 GBP ex Vat and ...

Re: 2019 R1250 RT LE Corrosion
I don't, however I bought the bike in Blackpool (English coastal town). I hadn't thought of that! I remember back in the day that cars used to rust by the seaside. You might be on to something there!

Re: 2019 R1250 RT LE Corrosion
It's under warranty. The dealer found more corrosion than me and they dealt with BMW. I think it will be sold once sorted though. I love the bike but maybe a black one would be easier to live with.

Re: 2019 R1250 RT LE Corrosion
Mine is a 2019 1250 and ridden all year around and I have no corrosion. 2 of our fleet 1250s (2020 and 2021 bikes) have had new engine casings. So doesn't seem to be all bikes That's great to hear (that it doesn't affect them all). My biggest worry is that the replacement parts were made at the sam...

Re: 2019 R1250 RT LE Corrosion
Mine has never seen salt either. All the miles were done this summer. The previous owner hardly used it and it sat in a dealer all last winter. That's good news that it didn't come back though...

2019 R1250 RT LE Corrosion
I've recently noticed corrosion on my my bike. When it was in for 12k service last month I asked the dealer to raise a case under warranty with BMW. They took some pics and BMW have said they will replace the engine, rear wheel and the final drive casing. I'm pleased with BMW's response (but not the...

Re: Pannier Protectors - Silicon issues
That's helpful thanks. Google was my first port of call, however it returned lots of advice about removing silicon sealant (bathrooms). I'm not not sure that I need to "soften it" as my problem is silicon sprayed onto the surface, however Isopropyl alcohol is easy to source so I will try i...

Pannier Protectors - Silicon issues
R1250RT LE 2019 with standard panniers I've bought some Halfords body protectors to stick on to the bottom (black plastic) half of my panniers ready for when I drop the bike... Unfortunately the dealer applied a liberal coating of silicon polish to all of the bike's black plastic parts before I pick...
