Re: Cleaning Alloy Wheels
Fwiw - my advice would be don't try to keep them in mint condition. Doing that may well involve removing some of the overpaint protection thereby exposing fresh and less well protected paintwork to further damage and each time you really put the elbow grease into it the deterioration rate will proba...

Aye, but if you follow his logic you could end up with several end products all at the same time!!

Re: Indoor bike cover
Being a cheapskate I just throw the XL Tourer Oxford Aquaseal outside cover over it! The bike can't be in two places at once - though Prof Brian Cox may disagree with that!!

Re: Fog lamp
Both my Pans were fitted with rear fog lamps even though up here we rarely suffer fog. At the coast we do experience the haar and that really made its presence felt yesterday just south of Aberdeen. I haven't yet fitted the same unit I removed from the last Pan onto the RT but it will be happening v...

It'd be interesting to keep an eye on that.
Thanks for your advice on the flap, etc.
Yes I watched that video among the many others!!

Re: Dodging exhaust flap bullets!!
There is a simple answer here fit the ESE and see how it feels to you For me I could not see a notable difference as for fitting its was pretty straight forward and no you don't get any issues at all its designed to mimic the motor so the bike thinks its working fine Personally I would fit and forg...

Re: Dodging exhaust flap bullets!!
No, I won't extend the warranty because although I was pleased with them and the job they did last week, I do tend to do my own anyway. I'm slightly puzzled by the dyno chart. My understanding was that the ideal or stoich point AFR for petrol was around 14.7/1 rather than what the chart is showing m...

Re: Dodging exhaust flap bullets!!
I've already bought the ESE for install should the flap fail again and BMW aren't then quite so understanding as they were last week.
Was it really such a straightforward install - no canbus issues at all?
Once fitted did your bike seem much different at all?

Dodging exhaust flap bullets!!
Dodging exhaust flap bullets!! So... it appears now that not all private sellers of BMW motorcycles are necessarily truthful. Having cleared every fault and cycled everything in sight using the GS-911 the '21 RT was running beautifully. Smooth up shifts; a screen clear of everything except what I wa...

Re: GS-911 Advice please
I didn't notice anything at all to do with ASC. I would imagine that's something with such a tightly defined set of parameters that to fool around with it might well not be advisable. As to DTC, I think there was a device function relating to it but I'd be lying if I said "definitely yes"....

Re: R1200RT vs ST1300
This topic is fairly old now and so there will probably not be anyone keeping an eye on it but hey-ho... I apologise to anyone man or woman enough to last until the end) for the length of this singularly boring post. I've ridden one ST1300 or another since around 2004. At the same time millennia of ...

Re: Switchgear and buttons lube ?
Personal and very humble opinion - I wouldn't let WD40 anywhere near plastics/nylon or delicate low voltage/low pressure switchgear. Being a fairly mild solvent it leeches colour, leaves a residue which isn't very kind to electrical contacts, can damage solder joints and in some plastics but mostly ...

Re: Speedometer Error on my '23 RT
Compared to my ST1300 which can be as much as 10% low the 1250RT does quite well to be only 4-5% off. This universal and OEM inbuilt variation in speedo accuracy is the principal reason I always install and ride to a standalone GPS unit display regardless of the level of bike tech on offer. I recent...

Re: Front wheel removal aid
Just a development. I bought these airbag jacks. I've used them and they work really well. About £13 for the three and using the two smallest ones under the front wheel and with both inflation bulbs in one hand only, the back wheel was pushing into the ground after only about ten pumps. They seem to...
