Re: Bevel drive Crush washer vs O-Ring

Thanks for that David, haven't had to do the oil change yet, so I wasn't aware of the exact design difference in the parts !!

Cheers.

Bevel drive Crush washer vs O-Ring

It has occurred to me that something might be ass backwards here. I have taken notice that in all the documents I have read so far, an O-Ring is specified for the drain plug on the Bevel housing while a crush washer is for the fill/level plug. Shouldn't it be the other way around? Every drain plug o...

Re: Hill start control

Rusty, it looks like the Hill Start control on your bike is set to automatic. Perhaps you might want to go into the TFT settings and change it to manual for better control ?!

Re: No anti-drain back valve !

Okay, I have since learned the oil filter doesn't need a backflow check valve, reason being, the oil level in the sump reservoir is higher than the bottom of the filter thus preventing oil from running out of the filter back into the crankcase. At least, that's what I have been led to believe....per...

No anti-drain back valve !

Ya gotta be kidding me...after doing much research on oil filters for my '23 RT, I purchased 2 Mahle OC 619s, "OEM" quality made in Austria oil filters from Amazon. How the hell is this filter suppose to be the correct replacement for the BMW filters, when there is no anti-drain valve for ...

Re: R1300RT Prototype

Please believe me when I say : the final product will look nothing like those pictures, as many of the body plastics are mostly slapped on bits and pieces ...that thing is simply a rolling disguise and a test bed !

Re: Heightened seat & lowered pegs experiences?

When I test drove the new RT, I immediately found my knees were uncomfortably high....in fact I found that on all the big Beemers. At 6' and 32" inseam, I knew what I had to do if I was gonna buy one. Soooo, I ordered the '23 RT with the high seat (its in the low position) and added the pegs lo...

Re: Water Running Down the Inside of Visor.

Similar to Docter T, I used a thin strip of foam tape along the top edge where the visor intersects on closing. Its important to be using the right stuff. In my case, the closed cell type foam...its quite dense and will not let the water thru !

Re: Long post - Thinking about switching to Versys 1000 / R1250 RT ?

Spitchz , your questions are reasonable and warrant much response. I have had many bikes in my life, since 1969 in fact, so I just gotta say a few words. While I have enjoyed much in the way of Japanese reliability, there have been the occasional recalls, and minor issues nonetheless. All the brands...

Re: Pannier Handle fails to lock

On occasion, a handle will not fully close if my Pannier isn't fully seated properly and it just takes a bit of a jiggle and downward pressure in order for the bag to be in proper position, then the handle goes down real easy. My question is, why does anybody want the handles to close when the bags ...

Beemer in my future

Hello everyone, I am currently riding a 2016 Goldwing and a Yamaha FJR1300ES. I plan on selling the Yammi and getting into a 2023 BMW 1250RT The info on this site is invaluable in so far as determining the reliability issues I have heard about in the past re BMWs. I truely hope the new RTs are as go...
