Re: Exhaust manifold bolts, can I survive on one each side?
To answer my own question: Yes
The bike ran for 600 miles without problems before I could get a day to fix the broken off studs. Fortunately by going slowly and carefully I managed to drill the old studs out by hand, clean the threads up and fit new ones.

Re: BMW Navigator VI
I’m considering an offer of £325 from elsewhere. Anyone on this site want to match that?

Brand new, used only to load latest maps, never been on the road. £355 including postage to UK. I have a shiny new satnav for sale. I would like to put it on my bike but family finances dictate that I either mount the satnav or put fuel in the tank. I’d rather go places than know precisely where my ...

Exhaust manifold bolts, can I survive on one each side?
So I decided to take my down pipe assembly off to clean it up (yes, I know why bother…) First nut came off no problem. Next one on that side sheared off - rats!!! Most would have stopped there but I’m stubborn. Tried the lower one on the other side, very, very gently with some back and forth but tha...

Re: “Is it me”
Keep an eye on forums, especially UKGSER. There are occasional private sales of RTs on there from owners who know and care about their bikes.
As others have said, around £5000 seems to be a natural limit on private sales

Are RT and GS downpipes the same?
The downpipes on my 2011 RT are in a sorry state and have clearly received no TLC in their life. I plan to sand and polish to restore them but if that doesn’t work, there is the option of secondhand ones in far better shape. Thing is that the best condition ones I have seen have been from a cam head...

Re: Tested cheap Chinese copy parts
BTW, I’ve just arranged for the rental of a V Strom 650 for a month beginning in May for my tour through Britain and France. Preferable for the shorter distances and the city traffic than NRT. Is filtering through lanes of traffic permitted in the UK? Always has been in California, and now three ot...

Re: Screen trim
If memory serves me correctly my R100RT had something like that around the edge of the screen.

Re: Hi-Viz vests
Rather than depend on the chance of someone else hesitating to benefit my safety I prefer to be proactive and adjust my ride. My safety my responsibility. As for high viz solid blocks of a single colour are easier to see than the potential urban camouflage of one colour bike a different colour jack...

Re: Hi-Viz vests
I wear a hi-viz vest and helmet and I have hi-viz reflective tape on the bike. My view is that they are all blind idiots and if I can cause one of them to hesitate from performing the manoeuvre that will kill me, it is a big win.
