Re: What did you do today?
Yesterday. Weather cleared up. Met a mate for a 150 mile ride. We took back roads up the coast, for fish and chips at Aldeburgh, then on to Andy Tiernan's ( classic bike dealer). They have a lovely 1950s R50, but £10k! Today will be bike wash down. 200 miles to 1st service. 1st time I've ridden yest...

Re: 2024 RT. Connected Ride Issue
Out for a day's ride today. I have changed my phone to a smaller Samsung, so it can go in the front compartment. That seems to have sorted it. I don't know whether it's being closer to the bike (previously in my jacket pocket), or possibly, being charged in the compartment, but the phone now seems t...

Re: Camshaft Sensor Issue?
Very kind of you to take the time to research the OP's issue and posting the reply. It did make me laugh though. The AI took multiple paragraphs to tell you it doesn't know the answer and if you get that code you should contact your dealer. On that showing, I don't think AI is ready to take over the...

Re: Age profile of RT owners
Might be worth double checking the advice you'regetting on the state pension. Whilst it looks like I'm a bit younger (60), also retired early (55). It has been confirmed to me, in writing, that I qualify for the current value full state pension under the old rules, for 35 years full NI contributions...

Re: GS, GSA VS RT
My understanding is, in Road and Dynamic, the suspension is constantly 'adapting', but I can never detect that. The difference is increased damping in Dynamic. Noticeable. No bouncing and generally feels much sharper. Both modes still give a plush feeling. So I only use Road if I'm spending time on ...

Re: GS, GSA VS RT
Suspension: That's true. The GS has more shock travel. I have noticed a difference on one of my regular routes, a very undulating country road surface. In 'Road' setting, the RT tops out and has me out of the saddle more. The GS didn't. Strangely, not so noticeable in 'Dynamic'.

Re: Vibration coming through on foot pegs.
I had this on a 1250GS, straight after new tyres (Road 6s). They took it back in and rebalanced the front wheel. It was better, but not cured until my next set of tyres. I concluded some tyres aren't perfectly round!

Re: 2024 RT. Connected Ride Issue
That's interesting. I initially had intermittent connection problems, but the music into my headset worked fine, like you are experiencing. My bike's software was updated, I uninstalled and reinstalled the BMW app and reset settings on my phone to give the app permissions and priority. Now no proble...

Re: GS, GSA VS RT
I agree. Realistically, apart from short sections, where in the UK would you ride off road with a 250KG GS, especially if the weather comes in? You need to pick your routes carefully. It's a touring bike and a really good one. That bears out in how nearly all owners use them. I bought my GS for long...

Re: GS, GSA VS RT
In my humble opinion / experience: My GS was more difficult to move around when the luggage was on than my RT. With the luggage off both, again the RT still feels easier to move around. Easier to flat foot the RT on more significant road cambers. I put my bikes on their centre stands in my garage, f...

Re: Bike doesn't start after refueling
I had the same problem on a 2019 GS. A new battery didn't solve it. In the end, I just carried a mid sized 'NOCO' jump start / booster pack around with me, which I used a couple of times. It would only happen the first re-start of the day, up to 20 miles from home, usually in cooler temps. It felt l...

Re: Duration of RT Ownership
Leave it to him to make his reply. I traded my 1250GS for my RT just over a fortnight ago. Initial impressions, I'd say the GS (not GSA, which i haven't owned) has some advantages: - lower gearing makes it feel quicker off the mark - lighter, but not much - possibly due to wheel size, or handlebar w...
