Not only on motorways.  Its very useful in low speed control areas like the 18 miles of 50 MPH on the M1. And of course for nose scratching with the right hand.

Ride back home from Cumbria on twin cam..... Cruise proved itself to be brilliant keeping any strain off the wrists over three hours and 190 miles!
